TODAY IS WORLD BEE DAY!
We celebrate World Bee Day on May 20 to recognize the importance of bees not only in maintaining our biodiversity but also in providing benefits for our economy. For our fellow beekeepers, bees are valuable as they are the pollinators and producers of honey. However, the challenges brought by adulteration and fraud of honey products are something that we should be wary about.
Here at DOST- Philippine Nuclear Research Institute, we are one in promoting actions that will protect, improve, and support the long-term development of beekeeping and honey-selling in the Philippines. One of the projects of the Food Authenticity and Traceability Program is adulteration detection and fingerprinting of Philippine honey using stable isotopes. This project aims to mitigate fraudulent honey products that are being sold at grocery and souvenir shops. This aims to help our beekeepers for fair competition in the market.
If you are a beekeeper, honey supplier, or honey seller, donβt miss out on the opportunity to avail free authenticity testing and certification of your honey products here at DOST-PNRI. Our registration form is still open for those interested. Register now thru this link: πbit.ly/FATHoney.
