Miss San Francisco pays tribute to the magnificent Alegria Toog Heritage Tree through her entry in the Bae Naligayan Costume Competition.

Inspired by one of the most iconic natural treasures of San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, she embodies the Diwata or Bobay Nga Tigbalantay sa Toogโ€”the mythical woman guardian spirit believed to watch over and protect the majestic Toog tree. Her costume symbolizes the deep connection between nature, culture, and local heritage, highlighting the importance of conserving our centuries-old trees and forest ecosystems.

The Alegria Toog Heritage Tree stands as a living testament to the richness of our natural heritage, resilience, and the enduring beauty of the environment. Through this creative portrayal, Miss San Francisco not only celebrates the grandeur of this legendary tree but also raises awareness of the need to protect and preserve these irreplaceable natural wonders for future generations.

A true fusion of culture, folklore, and environmental stewardship, her costume honors the spirit of the forest and the timeless legacy of the Alegria Toog Heritage Tree. ๐ŸŒณโœจ๐Ÿ‘‘

It survives because there are people who still know how to care for them...

In Kibongcog, San Fernando, Bukidnon, the Tigwahanon Community has lived with the forest long before conservation became a science. They know its trails, its seasons, its plants, its silences โ€” and the life it protects.

Now, that ancient guardianship is at the heart of a groundbreaking initiative. Through the Nature's Neighbours project โ€” funded by the Darwin Initiative โ€” the Philippine Eagle Foundation, Center for International Forestry Research and World Agroforestry (CIFOR-ICRAF), and Botanic Gardens Conservation International are working hand-in-hand with the Tigwahanon Community of Kibongcog in San Fernando, Bukidnon โ€” weaving together forest restoration, ancestral domain rights, and sustainable livelihoods into one shared mission.

Today, that stewardship is being strengthened โ€” with more than 80,000 native trees to be planted within their ancestral domain. Community members are being trained in agroforestry, nursery management, and small-scale agribusiness, not just to restore the Philippine Eagle's habitat, but to build a future where people and eagles can truly thrive together. ๐ŸŒฑ

"Did you witness this rare and spectacular phenomenon over Mt. Magdiwata this afternoon, June 13, 2026? A beautiful cap cloud formed atop the mountain just as the golden hour light illuminated its peak, creating a scene straight out of a dream. Share your photos and experiences in the comments?

The stunning image captures a rare orographic cloud formation known as a cap cloud or lenticular cloud, gracefully perched atop the peak of Mt. Magdiwata. This phenomenon occurs when stable, moisture-laden air is forced upward by the mountain's slopes through a process called orographic lift. As the air rises, it cools and condenses, forming a smooth, lens-shaped cloud that appears to hover motionlessly above the summit.

What makes this spectacle even more extraordinary is that it unfolds during the golden hour, when the sun is low on the horizon. At that moment, the summit of Mt. Magdiwata appears to be the only illuminated feature in the landscape, creating a breathtaking focal point against the darkening surroundings. The cloud is bathed in vibrant shades of orange, pink, and gold, produced by the sun's low-angle rays at sunset. This striking contrast between the brilliantly lit cloud and the shadowed terrain below creates a dramatic, almost fiery effect, making the mountain look as though it is crowned with a glowing celestial halo.

A truly remarkable display of nature's beauty, this fleeting phenomenon highlights the unique atmospheric conditions and majestic presence of Mt. Magdiwata.
