The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) – Southern Isabela Chapter achieved another milestone after being recognized as 2nd Place in the Search for the Most Outstanding DTI Region 2 Private Partner Organization (Private Category), held in celebration of Consumer Welfare Month 2025.

The award was conferred by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2, led by Regional Director Ma. Sofia G. Narag, CESO V, during the regional awarding ceremony in Tuguegarao City. The recognition highlights PCCI–Southern Isabela’s unwavering support and active partnership with DTI and other government agencies in advancing consumer welfare, promoting fair trade, and empowering local entrepreneurs.

Santiago City, Isabela — The City Government of Santiago, through the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – City of Santiago Office, successfully conducted the 2025 Civil Society Organization (CSO) Selection of Representatives to the Local Special Bodies on October 15, 2025, at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall, 2nd Floor, City Hall, San Andres, Santiago City.

The event convened accredited CSOs from across Santiago City as part of the government’s continuing effort to strengthen participatory governance and ensure active citizen engagement in local development planning and policy formulation.

Hon. Orlando T. Chan, City Councilor and Chairperson of the Committee on People’s Participation, delivered the welcome address on behalf of City Mayor Atty. Alyssa Sheena P. Tan, CPA, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the local government and civil society organizations in advancing inclusive governance. His message was followed by Hon. Jamayne C. Tan, City Vice Mayor, who expressed her support for active CSO participation in promoting transparency, accountability, and community empowerment.

LGOO II Von Louie C. Cayaba of DILG Santiago City presented the general guidelines, roles, and responsibilities of Civil Society Organizations, highlighting their vital function in local governance and development initiatives. His discussion underscored the continued commitment of the DILG to ensure that accredited CSOs remain active partners in the implementation of responsive and participatory local programs.

Although the formal selection of representatives did not proceed, the event highlighted the recognition of accredited organizations through the Awarding of Certificates of Accreditation. Santiago City, Isabela – The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) – Southern Isabela Chapter successfully conducted its monthly meeting on September 25, 2025, at Café Maya , Santiago City. The gathering served as a strategic planning session aimed at reviewing ongoing initiatives, identifying upcoming programs, and strengthening the Chamber’s organizational structure through leadership designations and committee management.

The session was presided over by PCCI–Southern Isabela officers and members, who actively engaged in discussions centered on key agenda items, including the call for election of new officers, presentation of upcoming projects, and the designation of committee heads to oversee specific program areas. These committees are instrumental in ensuring that the Chamber’s advocacies—ranging from trade and investment promotion to MSME development—are effectively implemented and aligned with PCCI’s vision and mission.

Among the meeting’s highlights was the review of PCCI–Southern Isabela’s completed projects, including the fully operational Shared Service Facility (SSF) in Santiago City for Food Processing and Toll Packaging, and the launch of the One Town, One Product (OTOP) Kiosk (OK), both implemented in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the City Government of Santiago. These initiatives reaffirm the Chamber’s steadfast commitment to empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through shared resources, expanded market access, and the promotion of locally made products.

Through these sustained efforts, PCCI–Southern Isabela reaffirms its role as a key partner in advancing inclusive economic growth and fostering a thriving business environment in Santiago City and the southern part of Isabela.

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Southern Isabela Chapter, under the leadership of President Markson Tan, actively participated in the 1st City Advisory Group (CAG) Meeting of the Santiago City Police Office (SCPO) held on August 26, 2025, at the SCPO Conference Room, Victory Norte, Santiago City.

The meeting, presided over by PCOL Lucio L. Simangan, Jr., City Director, together with Dr. Gilda C. Octavo, CAG Chairperson / Academe, and other CAG members, focused on the PNP P.A.T.R.O.L. Plan 2030 – Institutionalization Stage. This initiative underscores the PNP’s commitment to strengthening transparency, accountability, and good governance through active collaboration with stakeholders.

The agenda highlighted the roles and responsibilities of the City Advisory Group (CAG), updates on the PNP’s transformation roadmap, the oath-taking of new members, and the presentation of SCPO’s best practices.

PCCI-Southern Isabela expressed its strong support for initiatives that build public trust and enhance peace and order in the city, recognizing that a safe and secure environment is vital to sustaining local business growth and attracting further investments.

Through its involvement in the CAG, the Chamber reaffirms the business community’s partnership with law enforcement in advancing good governance, community safety, and socio-economic development in Santiago City. PCCI-Southern Isabela remains committed to supporting multi-sectoral efforts that foster inclusive economic growth while ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

Santiago City — The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry–Southern Isabela actively participated in the committee hearing on the proposed ordinance for the establishment of the Santiago City Food Processing and Toll Packaging Center held on August 13, 2025, at the SP Committee Room, San Andres, Santiago City.

The hearing, organized by the Committee on Trade, Industry, Livelihood, and Cooperatives chaired by Hon. Benzi Tan Chai, gathered key stakeholders to discuss the proposed measure entitled:

“An Ordinance Authorizing the Establishment, Operation, and Maintenance of the Santiago City Food Processing and Toll Packaging Center, Fixing Charges and Rentals for the Use of the Facilities, and Providing Funds for the Implementation Thereof.”

Following the deliberations, the Santiago City Council approved the ordinance on its final reading. This landmark legislation aims to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by reducing service fees, charges, and rental costs for food processing and toll packaging services. By lowering production expenses, the initiative seeks to enhance the competitiveness of local businesses while creating opportunities for training and entrepreneurship in food processing.

The Santiago City Food Processing and Toll Packaging Center will offer facilities such as Hot Water Treatment, Dehydrator, Steam Jacketed Kettle, Bottle Filling Machine, Blast Freezer, and Fruit Pulping Machine, all designed to boost the productivity of MSMEs in Santiago City.

This milestone reflects the strong partnership between the local government and the private sector in providing cost-efficient, safe, and sustainable facilities that empower local entrepreneurs and drive economic growth in the city.

𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗮 — In line with efforts to promote consumer awareness and responsible business practices, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) – Southern Isabela Chapter, in partnership with the DTI Santiago City Satellite Office, conducted the distribution of Hotlines Posters and Price Act & Price Tag Brochures to 15 BNPC outlets and 5 hardware stores across Santiago City.

The initiative forms part of Project TAPAT (Transparency and Accountability on Pricing and Tags), a continuing campaign that advocates for fair pricing, proper price tagging, and strengthened accountability among business establishments.

Through this distribution, consumers are equipped with essential information on their rights, while businesses are reminded of their legal obligations under Republic Act No. 7581 or the Price Act, and the Price Tag Law. The Hotlines Posters prominently display key contact numbers for reporting violations and seeking assistance, while the brochures serve as handy references on pricing regulations.

The DTI Santiago City Satellite Office and PCCI Southern Isabela reaffirm their commitment to working together to ensure that Santiago City remains a safe, transparent, and consumer-friendly marketplace.

The awarding ceremony was held during the North Luzon Chamber Development Workshop (CDW) on June 19, 2025, at The Bunker, Balanga City, Bataan, gathering chamber leaders, business advocates, and stakeholders from across Northern Luzon.

The Adopt-A-Chamber Program is designed to build stronger, more resilient local chambers by providing guidance, technical assistance, and development support through mentorship and peer collaboration. Through this initiative, emerging chambers are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to become catalysts for business growth and economic progress in their respective communities.

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Southern Isabela Chapter, led by its President, Mr. Markson Louie Tan, together with his fellow members, actively participated in the North Luzon Chamber Development Workshop (CDW) held on June 19, 2025, at the Kalayaan Hall, Tourism Pavilion, Balanga City, Bataan.

The event gathered chamber leaders from across North Luzon for a day of learning and collaboration aimed at strengthening local chambers as engines of economic growth and effective advocates for the business sector.

The workshop featured learning sessions on the role of local chambers, building effective advocacy agendas, and communicating priorities to stakeholders. Among the resource speakers were Dr. Alberto P. Fenix, Jr., Marlon P. Mina, and Joel Ryan E. Tugade, who provided actionable insights on chamber excellence and strategic advocacy.

PCCI Southern Isabela’s participation on North Luzon Chamber Development Workshop reflects its firm commitment to strengthening chamber operations and driving regional growth. Equipped with new insights, the chamber remains focused on advancing its programs and advocacy for the benefit of Southern Isabela’s business community.
