Silang, Cavite | Cleanway actively participates in the School Governing Council (SGC) of Maguyam Elementary School. The SGC acts as a cornerstone for shared governance and community partnership in the Department of Education (DepEd). Institutionalized under Republic Act No. 9155 and DepEd Order No. 26, s. 2022, the council brings together diverse stakeholders—including school administrators, teachers, parents, students, local government units, alumni, and community leaders—to actively participate in school decision-making. Cleanway has been an active private sector for more than 20 years in Barangay Maguyam.

The multipartite council ensures policy recommendations remain responsive to local socio-cultural realities while safeguarding student welfare. Ultimately, the SGC fosters collective ownership, bridging the gap between DepEd and local communities to ensure accessible, quality, and context-driven education.

Silang, Cavite | Demonstrating its commitment to environmental stewardship, Cleanway successfully spearheaded the Labuyo Creek Cleanup as part of the Adopt-An-Estero Program of the DENR. This initiative brought together dedicated company volunteers to revitalize the waterway and monitor the upstream waste.

Through active hands-on cleanup efforts, Cleanway fulfilled its responsibility to restore it adjacent natural ecosystems, minimize local pollution, and foster a healthier community. This year’s cleanup collected 43 kilos of residual and plastic waste from the local water body.

Los Baños, Laguna | CLEAN UP, LB! Sa malinis na UPLB, lahat tayo kasali! held last 16 September was organized by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, UPLB ENVIPRO, WASS UP, LB! The seminar successfully gathered UPLB constituents, local government representatives, and non-government agencies to tackle campus and community environmental challenges. The 4-hour forum emphasized collective responsibility in creating a sustainable, waste-conscious community. Cleanway Silang and CPI Leyte representatives were invited to tackle the special waste and hazardous wastes protocols.

The forum session includes Plastic Pollution presented by Dr. Virginia C. Cuevas (UPLB Professor Emeritus & NAST Academician) as she outlined the ecological and environmental impacts of plastic waste and presented viable pathways forward. A talk on Institutional Waste Management was led by Engr. Christian Paulo C. Altoveros (Chair, UPLB Environmental Committee) as he detailed UPLB’s current waste management systems, operational challenges, and ongoing innovations. And, a session on Hazardous Waste Management presented by Ms. Jamela Bucad (Pollution Control Officer, Cleanway Environmental Management Services) as she shared industry best practices and advanced treatment technologies for hazardous waste. CEMSI/CPI Corporate Affairs Manager, Phillip Medina handed over the token for sustainable and responsible waste management certificate to UPLB.

The seminar strengthened the collaboration between UPLB and Los Baños stakeholders, reinforcing actionable strategies for source-segregation and responsible and comprehensive waste disposal across the campus and broader community.

Through our Zero-Waste-to-Landfill Program, our integrated facility in oxidation, bioremediation and wastewater treatment has created an innovative process and product to reduce reliance on landfills.

We recognize City of Dreams Manila as an environmental advocacy partner as we further our efforts towards sustainability.

Ormoc City, Leyte | Continuing the empowerment of the Pollution Control Officers in Region VIII toward a cleaner, safer future, Cleanaway Philippines Inc. (CPI) joined the local leaders and PCAPI R8 in their Pollution Control Officer (PCO) Training last 8 September. VP for Technical Services, Antonio G. Celajes Jr., led the presentation, highlighting the standards for hazardous waste transport, treatment, and sustainable disposal.

Turning your waste into a Sustainability Program

With its continued quest for innovation, CEMSI has trail-blazed the zero-waste to landfill program with the Thermal Oxidizer. Here, waste is broken down into stabilized ash as it undergoes the intense heat and disintegration processes. The ash produced in its inert state is used as material for concrete hollow blocks (CHBs) and pavers that is safe and durable for construction.

To date, CEMSI has used the CHBs and pavers in its internal projects and donations to clients as part of its corporate social responsibility.

From waste to ash and from process by-product to valuable construction material, zero-waste to landfill is achieved as a viable and sustainable waste management solution.
