Justice League Director’s Cut – Was it necessary?
Zack Snyder’s version of the renowned superhero-packed movie was released 2 days ago and fans share the thrill across various social media platforms.
As we recall, “Justice League” was officially released in cinemas way back in 2017 with Snyder originally hired to write and direct the film. Unfortunately, had to step out due to a family tragedy which led Warner Bros. to hire Joss Whedon to finish it.
It was supposed to be Snyder’s path to redemption from Warner Bros.’ last title “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” however the 2017 film proved to be a box-office flop. It just couldn’t live up to the hype. The movie didn’t leave a good taste in the mouth of critics and fans were given a lot of reasons to stay clear of it. One of which is a lack of character development. Unlike movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, most of their heroes got their own independent films (or made a cameo between movies) before they began The Avengers franchise. Justice League, on the other hand, looked like it was made to recruit the rest of the gang, revive Superman – The End. Take note, the movie’s runtime was only 2 hours.
This was, thankfully, corrected in Snyder’s version which is twice as long as the original film. The characters were given a more decent glimpse of their background. The plot was made clearer that included a history lesson with some ass-kicking scenes. Even though both versions share the same plot, all the new additions made the entire film better, understandable, and somehow made more sense.
We’re glad that Snyder was able to finally share his vision, deeming it necessary for us to see how the movie was supposed to come out. The Snyder cut is definitely worth it, if we’re still in 2017 that is.
