𝗘𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗟𝗜𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗜𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗢𝗦 𝗦𝗨𝗥

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Ilocos Sur successfully conducted the seminar “Strengthening Consumer Protection and Digital Readiness: A Seminar for Appliance Retailers” with 30 participants from appliance centers.

Key topics included:
Price Tag Law under RA 7581 and RA 7394
Product Standards under RA 4109
Digitalization Tools featuring ChatGPT, Canva, and Gemini

PD Zaldy Z. Zafra Jr. appreciated the participant’s effort in coming all the way from Tagudin, Sinait, and even Cervantes. Furthermore, PD Zafra emphasized the significance of the laws and topics to be discussed during the session where they can be equipped with fair-trade compliance and as well as be familiarized with digitalization tools that will boost their technical skills for the improvement of their marketing and advertising strategies. Lastly, PD Zafra extended his gratitude to DICT Ilocos Sur for their invaluable support during the conduct of this seminar.

Through this initiative, appliance retailers gained valuable insights on consumer protection laws and practical digital tools to enhance their business readiness in today’s evolving marketplace.

𝗣𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗖 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬

𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 (𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆) is declared a Regular Holiday throughout the country, in observance of the 𝗘𝗶𝗱’𝗹 𝗔𝗱𝗵𝗮 (𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲) pursuant to Proclamation No. 1264.

In view thereof, work at the Department of Trade and Industry Ilocos Sur Provincial Office, including all Negosyo Center offices in the province, is suspended on said date.

Regular operations will resume on Thursday, May 28, 2026. We stand in solidarity with our Muslim community in Ilocos Sur and across the nation as they celebrate Eid’l Adha, a time of reflection and togetherness.

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: 𝗗𝗧𝗜 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗼𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗘𝗭 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) participated in the Joint Site Validation for the proposed Ilocos Sur Special Economic Zone (SEZ) – Integrated Seaport-linked Development Project held on May 21, 2026, in Salomague, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.
The activity aimed to assess the feasibility of the proposed project and evaluate its strategic importance in improving connectivity and accessibility, strengthening trade and logistics, attracting investments, and accelerating regional economic growth.
The site validation brought together key stakeholders and partner agencies, including representatives from the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur, Provincial Engineering Office, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Local Government Unit of Cabugao, Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), and other concerned offices to support a collaborative assessment of the proposed development.
Identified as a priority initiative under the Regional Development Council (RDC), the proposed Ilocos Sur Integrated Seaport-linked SEZ seeks to address critical infrastructure requirements, particularly the establishment of efficient transport networks within and leading to the economic zone. Through the integration of port facilities and improved land connectivity, the project is envisioned to strengthen Ilocos Sur’s position as a strategic logistics and investment hub in Northern Luzon.
Once realized, the development is expected to improve the movement of goods and services, reduce transport costs, generate employment opportunities, expand business activities, and support inclusive and sustainable economic growth. The initiative also aims to enhance the province’s competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.
DTI remains committed to advancing strategic infrastructure and investment-enabling initiatives that foster trade expansion, promote economic opportunities, and uplift local communities. Through sustained collaboration with national and local partners, the Department continues to support projects that contribute to long-term regional development and shared prosperity.
