Ink That Will Never Fade: Graduating Campus Journalists Leave Their Mark
✍️ Andrhea Christine L. Belmuro

The newsroom will not be the same.

As graduation approaches, seven of the school’s most dedicated campus journalists prepare to bid farewell—not just to classrooms, but to the publication they helped shape with their words, passion, and purpose.

Andrhea Christine Belmuro, Noriel Wayne Trinidad, Carla Cagara, Jean Mabalo, Anarose Bermudo, Princess Faye Capongcol, and Jasper Batica—seven names that have become synonymous with excellence in campus journalism—are leaving behind a legacy written in ink and impact.

For years, these student writers served as the backbone of the school publication, producing stories that informed, inspired, and amplified the voices of the student body. From breaking news to compelling feature articles, from opinion pieces to creative illustration, their work consistently reflected depth, accuracy, and integrity.

Their journalism journey was marked not only by dedication but also by distinction.

Representing the school in various press conferences, the group brought home multiple awards in categories such as Feature Writing, Column Writing, News Writing, Copyreading and Headline Writing, Editorial Cartooning and Sports Writing. Their victories in district, area and division journalism competitions stood as a testament to their skill, teamwork, and commitment to the craft.

Yet beyond the medals and recognition, their greatest achievement lies in the influence they had within the newsroom.

They were mentors to younger staff members—guiding them through tight deadlines, helping refine articles, and instilling the values of responsible journalism. Their leadership turned the publication into more than just a student organization; it became a training ground for future truth-seekers and storytellers.

“They didn’t just write stories—they built writers,” shared their School Paper Adviser, Ms. Clarissa de Paz.

Each of them brought a unique voice to the publication. Belmuro’s vivid storytelling, Trinidad’s sharp analysis, Cagara’s creative flair, Mabalo’s attention to detail, Bermudo’s discipline, Capongcol’s expressive writing, and Batica’s strong illustration formed a dynamic team that elevated the standards of campus journalism.

Through their collective efforts, the publication grew stronger, more relevant, and more impactful. They covered school events with accuracy, tackled issues with courage, and ensured that every article served a purpose—to inform and to give voice.

Now, as they prepare to step beyond the school gates, their absence will surely be felt. But their influence will remain—in every headline written, every article published, and every young journalist they have inspired.

Their journey proves that journalism is not just about writing—it is about service, truth, and legacy.

As these seven journalists turn the page to a new chapter, one thing is certain:

The stories they told will be remembered.
The standards they set will be followed.
And the legacy they leave behind will continue to shape the newsroom for years to come.

🔰Safety Starts With Me
✍️ JEAN P. MABALO

Fire does not choose its victims. I have come to realize that even the smallest act of negligence can lead to devastating consequences.

Because of this, I make a conscious effort to stay alert to potential hazards around me. I believe that simple actions—like being cautious with electrical appliances, properly disposing of flammable materials, and staying informed—can make a big difference. I also take part in community programs led by firefighters, knowing that these initiatives not only educate me but also help protect others. In my own small way, I contribute to keeping my home and community safe.

I strongly believe that safety begins with simple habits. During Fire Prevention Month, I take time to inspect my home—checking wires, unplugging unused devices, and ensuring that everything is in proper condition. These may seem like small steps, but I know they can prevent bigger problems in the future.

I also encourage my friends and neighbors to do the same. I share what I’ve learned and invite them to be more mindful of fire risks. Fire does not discriminate, and I want the people around me to be prepared and protected at all times.

As a responsible citizen, I believe that fire safety starts with me. Every March serves as a reminder of how important it is to stay vigilant and disciplined in my daily life. Through awareness, preparedness, and cooperation, I know that we can all help prevent fires and protect what matters most.

Students at Salvacion Elementary School expressed both excitement and nostalgia as the school year comes to a close, marking the beginning of their much-anticipated break.

Several learners said they are happy about finishing the academic year, as it gives them more time to relax, play, and spend time with their families after months of schoolwork.

Cindy Serrano, a Grade 5 student, shared that she is looking forward to dedicating more time to her family during the vacation.

"I feel proud and excited to received my certificate and advance to Grade 6," Rain Joy Catantan exclaimed.

For some students, the break also means a pause from daily academic tasks. Jenro Jacob Abrahan, a Grade 4 pupil, said he is glad to take a break from writing activities.

"I am so excited to rest and enjoy playing with my cousins," Andrhea Christine Belmuro added.

However, not all students feel the same way. Some expressed sadness as they prepare to say goodbye to their classmates and teachers.

Anarose Bermudo, a Grade 6 student, said she will miss her classmates and the friendships she built throughout the year.

"I will surely miss eating, laughing, and even getting scolded together with my friends in class," Farrah Wayne Hecto shared.

Despite mixed emotions, the end of the school year marks an important milestone for students, as they celebrate their achievements while preparing for new challenges in the coming academic year.

BREAKING BARRIERS, BUILDING FUTURES
✍️ || Nica Rainne Cagara

Every year on March 8, the world celebrates International Women’s Day, a time to honor the achievements of women and recognize the continuing work needed to achieve true gender equality. The day serves as both a celebration of progress and a reminder that the journey toward equal rights and opportunities is far from over.

International Women’s Day is more than a symbolic occasion—it is a global call to action. Around the world, advocates continue to push for women’s rights, including equal access to education, fair participation in politics, and better opportunities in the workforce. These efforts highlight the importance of empowering women and ensuring that their voices are heard in every sector of society.

In recent years, women have made remarkable strides across many fields. From leading groundbreaking discoveries in science to driving innovation in technology and guiding nations through complex global challenges, women continue to shape the future in powerful ways. Their leadership and vision are helping build more inclusive and resilient communities.

Programs and initiatives that support girls’ education, women’s health, and leadership development play a crucial role in creating pathways for women to succeed. These efforts not only uplift individuals but also strengthen families, communities, and economies.

Beyond the headlines, countless women make meaningful contributions every day. Mothers who nurture families, teachers who inspire young minds, healthcare workers who save lives, and community leaders who uplift those around them all play vital roles in shaping society.

Their resilience, compassion, and determination are quiet yet powerful forces that keep communities moving forward. International Women’s Day reminds us that when women rise, communities grow stronger, innovation flourishes, and the future becomes more inclusive for everyone.

As the world marks this important day, the message is clear: celebrating women’s achievements must go hand in hand with continued action to build a fairer and more equal world.

The Legacy of EDSA and the Unfinished Story of People Power

They came carrying rosaries instead of rifles, flowers instead of flags of war. Families stood beside priests and nuns. Strangers shared food, water, and courage. For four unforgettable days, an ordinary stretch of highway transformed into sacred ground where fear slowly gave way to hope.

The air was bright with yellow ribbons tied to fences and fluttering from passing cars. The color, once a quiet symbol of mourning and resistance, became a unifying banner for millions who longed for change without bloodshed. Tanks rolled forward but stopped short of violence. Human barricades formed not from force, but from faith. The world watched as citizens proved that power did not always have to roar — sometimes it could kneel, pray, and still prevail.

When the standoff ended, a decades-long rule had collapsed. Democratic institutions were restored, and a nation reclaimed its voice. Yet the victory was not without complexity. While freedoms returned, inequality endured. Political power shifted, but many social wounds remained unhealed. Over time, some would question whether the movement transformed the system or merely redirected it.

Still, its legacy burns quietly in the national memory — a reminder that unity can disarm tyranny and that peaceful resistance can alter history. Nearly four decades later, as debates about democracy and collective action continue, the spirit of that moment remains both inspiration and challenge.

It was the 1986 People Power Revolution along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue — forever remembered as the Yellow Revolution.
