What is primary difference between an excuse and a reason? It really comes down to ownership.

An excuse deflects blame to escape accountability; this is fault-finding, relies on alibis, and resists change.

A reason focuses on transparency and finding a solution so it doesn't happen again; this is characteristic of a dependable leader with integrity.

ETHICS 101

Financial assistance, such as grants and subsidies, can significantly impact loyalty and dependence. If external funding exceeds internal (e.g. salary) compensation, a shift in loyalty and allegiance may occur. Adherence to high ethical standards will help ensure that you do the right things right.

WHY MILE MARKERS ARE ESSENTIAL IN A MARATHON

Mile markers in a marathon are those signs that pop up every mile along the course, from the very first mile all the way to the finish line at 26.2 miles. They’re super helpful for runners because they keep track of how far they’ve gone. Here’s how they make a difference:

1. Pace Themselves: Knowing the distance already covered helps runners check if they’re keeping up with their planned pace and make adjustments if needed.

2. Monitor Progress: Seeing those mile markers adds a sense of achievement as each mile ticks by.

3. Strategize: Runners can plan when to grab water or a snack based on those markers.

4. Mentally Prepare: Understanding how much distance is left helps runners break down the race into smaller parts, making it feel less overwhelming.
In a nutshell, mile markers serve as mental checkpoints that help runners stay focused as they get closer to that finish line.

As one might say, “If you’re running a modern marathon that relies on accurate pacing and record-keeping, not having mile markers would make it nearly impossible to run effectively and fairly.”

On a similar note, an organization can't reach its vision, mission, or strategic goals without measuring success, tracking milestones, and having checkpoints, just like those marathon mile markers. Trying to do it all without them would be like running a marathon with a blindfold on!

"Who took the cookie from the cookie jar? Who me? Yes you, No not me.”

Is an idiom that means someone has been caught stealing or doing something wrong. Our usual response is we are always trying to find someone else to blame, rather than ourselves, we try to find a scapegoat to get us out of the situation.

Why is corporate planning important tothe success of an organization?

Corporate planning plays a crucial role in the success of an organization. Those with corporate experience help define the organization's goal and purpose, and it is essential to ensure that everyone works towards the same objectives to enhance coordination and minimize conflicts. Resistance to "corporate" principles is common, but it is important to understand the essence of corporate life. Corporate life entails working for a well-established company with a clear hierarchical structure. Corporate jobs are characterized by rigid schedules, reporting to a line manager, having specific roles, and milestones. If you find yourself in a corporate setting, don't distance yourself with "corporate" people. Your corporate background brings valuable experience to the table, contributing to the organization's success.

LEADERSHIP 101: The snowball effect is a psychological term that explains how small actions can cause bigger and bigger actions, ultimately resulting in a big impact (avalanche effect). If you have difficulty in solving a problem, maybe you are part of the problem.

Collab - is when two or more people or organizations work together to create, achieve, or promote something, ideally resulting to a win-win situation. Before entering into a collaborative work or affiliation agreement, it is important to consider the following questions: How will the organization benefit from the collab? Is the collab alligned with the organization's values, objectives and directions? Is there transparency and clarity between the parties involved? Are the requirements and benefits clearly communicated to the entire organization?
If only one party benefits, then it is not truly a collaborative effort. A successful collaboration has to be mutually beneficial and should also significantly drive the organization to achieve its objectives. If the collab is just top level and superficial, it might be good to review and reconsider if the collab is still worth pursuing or continuing.
