Position: Business Analyst (IT Background)
Location: Alabang, Muntinlupa – Metro Manila
Industry: Insurance (Life/Non-Life/Health)
Role Overview
The Business Analyst acts as a bridge between business teams and IT, ensuring that insurance operations, systems, and solutions are effectively translated into actionable requirements. The role supports process improvements, system enhancements, and technology initiatives that strengthen policy administration, underwriting, claims management, and customer service operations.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Systems Analysis
• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements across insurance functions (underwriting, policy issuance, claims, billing, customer service).
• Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and process flows.
• Conduct gap analysis, impact assessments, and feasibility studies for new system features or enhancements.
• Review existing systems and recommend improvements for efficiency and compliance.
Project & Stakeholder Management
• Collaborate with underwriting, claims, operations, finance, IT development, and product teams.
• Support all phases of the project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, documentation, UAT, and deployment.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide clarity on requirements for sprint delivery.
Testing & Quality Assurance
• Create UAT test cases, scripts, and scenarios based on documented requirements.
• Validate system features to ensure alignment with business needs.
• Monitor defects, coordinate resolution, and perform retesting.
Documentation & Reporting
• Prepare BRDs, FSDs, wireframes, process maps, SOPs, and training materials.
• Maintain comprehensive system documentation and update workflow changes.
• Generate reports and insights to support business decisions.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in an insurance company or financial services/insurance tech environment.
• Strong understanding of insurance processes (policy administration, claims, underwriting, billing).
• Experience using or supporting PAS, CRM, claims systems, or core insurance platforms.
• Knowledge of SDLC and Agile/Scrum practices.
• Proficiency in business process mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Draw.io).
• Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with SQL queries, Power BI, or other reporting/analytics tools.
• Familiarity with API integrations and digital transformation projects.
• Knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements (IC, AML, Data Privacy).
• Hands-on UAT management and system testing experience.
