Sangguniang Bayan Ordinance No. 36, series of 2020 regulates the use of plastic cellophane and sando bags as packaging materials and utilization of polystyrene, commonly known as styrofoam, for food and beverage containers in the Municipality of Lal-lo.
Section 3 of said ordinance mandates that: a) Business establishments, fast food outlets, market vendors, and the like are prohibited from using plastic cellophanes and sando bags as packaging materials for customers; and b) Stores and other retail establishments are mandated to use any alternative legally compliant packaging material for customers, such as but not limited to, recyclable, reusable and/or biodegradable alternative packaging materials, in lieu of single-use plastic cellophanes and sando bags.
Section 6 also prohibits business establishments, restaurants, fast food outlets, food kiosks, catering services, and the like to utilize, sell or provide styrofoams or expanded polystyrene foam as containers for food and beverages.
Business establishments, sari-sari stores, ambulant vendors, market vendors, food kiosks and the like that will violate said provisions will be penalized accordingly.
