Support ta guyth! Ky atoa ni!
Hindi. Hindi pwedeng hindi TAYO manalo. At this point it is not about me anymore but about the stories of the country I love.
Just in case hindi nyo pa po alam…. I joined an international competition for travel creators to make a video about the Philippines.
We traveled for a week to different islands in the Philippines tapos binigyan kami ng around 2weeks to make a video. 6 po kami galing sa iba’t ibaang bansa. Ako lang ang Pilipino.
I traveled to El Nido and Coron (went to Culion for a day). Na- realize ko in that one week na sa aming anim, I am the only one who can share the story of the Philippines through the lens of a Filipino. I am the only person who can tell a story why we are the way we are. Why the Philippines and its people are this beautiful.
This conversation (photo) in one of my “support GC” made me pause, sit and confront myself. I am obviously too hard on myself kaya concern mga kaibigan ko. Pero at this point, it is not about me anymore.
HINDI PWEDENG HINDI MANALO. Losing is not an option because this is my only chance to share the story of our country to the world.
We have to reclaim the narrative. Some may call it Pinoy pride but it is more than that…
Kelangan ng mundo makilala ang Pilipinas galing sa mga Pilipino.
When I wrote the script for my final video, I carry with me the stories I treasured as I travel around the Philippines in the last 4 years.
The little people of Hobbit Tavern in Boracay.
The families who make Asin Tibuok in Bohol.
The locals in Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-tawi.
The people in Culion.
The tour guides and healers in Siquijor.
The PDLs in Iwahig, Puerto Princesa.
The family I joined their rice harvest in Batad, Ifugao.
My Sagada family who consider me as their “adopted daughter”
…many more locals I met in my travels.
Sa totoo lang kinakabahan ako. I will be submitting the final video tomorrow.
My team and I are doing our best to share the beauty of our country but no matter how good our video is… the competition is through votes.
This is the part where I humbly ask “I NEED YOUR HELP”
We are down to our last 24h to edit the video. I hope when voting opens… tulungan nyo po akong manalo by not only voting but encouraging people to vote for my video.
Voting opens on May 27.
For now, back to editing muna ako. I can’t wait to share the video sa inyo. Byeee! 🥹
