For nine years, there has been a place in Malaybalay where the music often lasted longer than the night.
YAKA was never just a bar.
Its bamboo floors held countless nights... local bands finding their sound, artists arriving from across the country and beyond, friends gathering after long days, strangers becoming familiar faces.
Its bamboo walls heard the songs, the laughter, the conversations that went on longer than planned. They witnessed first gigs, reunions, celebrations, quiet nights, and the kind of ordinary moments that only become precious when you realize you won't have them again.
For musicians, YAKA was a stage. For travelers, it was a place to find their way into Malaybalay's nights. For many others, it was simply the place where people met, stayed, listened, and came back.
Nine years is thousands of nights, countless songs, hundreds of performances, and more stories than anyone could possibly tell.
Some will live in photographs. Others will stay with the people who were there.
Now, there will be one final night.
YAKA will celebrate its ninth anniversary and farewell party on September 5, 2026, from 3 PM to midnight. The final lineup will be revealed soon.
One last stage. One last gathering. One last song.
And then, the music will stop.
But the stories held by those bamboo floors and walls will remain with the people who lived them.
