"Crab Condo" or "Vertical Crab Farming" Set up and supplies. Crab fattening using "RAS" System. WHAT IS VERTICAL CRAB HOUSE? Crab is an aggressive creature.

If they are bred together, there is a very high chance that they will fight and kill each other. This is especially so during the molting season. Crab house provides a separate aquaculture box for every crab, preventing fighting and cannibalism. The crab house is equipped with water supplying system to increasing oxygen in the water. It can automatically discharge feces and leftover

(self-clean patent design) to maintain a good water quality environment in the box. When thorough cleaning is required, water can be completely drained from the box. The crab box comes with a door and an observation window. The purpose of the door is for putting in and removing of the crab. The other purpose of the door is to prevent the crab from escaping. The observation window allows the worker to check on the crabs without the need to open the door, thus improving efficiency and minimizing the disturbance caused to the crab. The configuration of the boxes is flexible. The total number of floor or the number of boxes per floor can be set up based on the operational needs of the farm. A typical setup is 10 floors high with 10 boxes on each floor and usually consists of 1000 boxes. Each setup can be independently operated – it is a self contained eco-environment. All the environmental parameters can be controlled and monitored for optimum results. Due to the vertical setup, the requirement for a large space is eliminated. A setup of 1000 boxes only requires 30 – 40m2. Due to the compact setup, less water, less energy and less manpower is required. The setup can be done inland as there is no need for constant supply of seawater because the water in the system is reuse. Crab house effectively eliminates most of the risks of aquaculture, e.g. Indoor breeding -eliminates the risk of natural prey and natural disasters, usage of recycled sterilized and clean water – eliminates the risk of bad water quality. It also increases productivity as one skilled worker is able to take care and manage 2000 to 5000 crab houses. Vertical crab house setup is ideal for temporary rearing / storing, fattening and breeding of crabs. The crab house can be used as a temporary rearing / storing facility especially when the crabs are being transported internationally. The system provides the crab with the needed environment to stay alive. The setup is also used in many places for fattening and breeding of both meat crab and soft shell crab. With increase in international demand for crabs, the economics of crab fattening and breeding is very positive.
