The City Government of Taguig, through its City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CEDSU), is now providing free antigen testing to Taguigeños in the comfort of their own homes in line with its goal of protecting its citizens against COVID-19 via actively monitoring, engaging and strengthening its Disease Surveillance.
Supervised and monitored by our Lingap Testing coordinators, Taguig City wants to make testing more accessible to everyone, especially to immunocompromised people, bedridden patients, persons with disabilities, and senior citizens with mobility issues.
According to data, the City has a record of a trend of moderate to high COVID-19 cases when there is no surge but relatively low during surge times because Taguig is relentless in disease surveillance.
Mayor Lino Cayetano recognized the hard work of the Taguig City Health Office (CHO) and CEDSU in training and accrediting 100 testers.
“We can see that the hard work of our frontliners continues to pay off. Their dedication is the reason why our services continue to improve,” said Mayor Lino Cayetano.
Mayor Lino also stressed that the continued implementation of the disease surveillance strategy is important as it enables the City to intervene early and implement proper health measures effectively.
“I can attest that our response in ceasing the spread of the virus is a continued success. Proof of that is, Taguig continues to have the lowest case fatalities and among the cities in Metro Manila with the lowest fatality rate,” said Mayor Cayetano.
As of January 29, Taguig has been consistent to be among the cities in Metro Manila with the lowest case fatality rate at 0.74 percent compared to the NCR average of 1.55 percent.
Taguig is now aggressively rolling out the Antigen testing to complement the free RT-PCR tests being done in over 35 sites in the City, including testing in Health Centers, Drive-Thru testing, and those done in Taguig Mega Swabbing Facility.
The City Government stays true to its commitment to curbing the spread of COVID-19 through continuously boosting its services. The City’s proactive vaccination rollout and testing effort continue to give Taguig the confidence in leading to the transition to the new normal.
