In compliance with the directives of the Secretary Water Management & Irrigation Department (WM&I), Gilgit-Baltistan a two day field visit to the Pipe Irrigation Scheme at Bagicha District Kharmang was conducted to review the progress and address issues related to the scheme.
The field visit was led by the Deputy Director WM&I Skardu along with his field team who carried out the tasks assigned by the Secretary WM&I GB. The team was accompanied by the Assistant Commissioner Kharmang Revenue Department staff and the field team of DDWM&I Kharmang.
During the visit the team jointly inspected the scheme site assessed the physical status of the ongoing works and reviewed site related and land matters in coordination with the Revenue staff. Technical aspects of the pipe irrigation system and the remaining works were also examined.

In compliance with the directives of the Secretary Water Management & Irrigation (WM&I) Department Gilgit-Baltistan the Assistant Engineer WM&I Diamer conducted a field visit to District Tangir to inspect the ongoing departmental development schemes and ETI-GB ILD schemes.
During the visit the Assistant Engineer reviewed the physical and financial progress of the ongoing schemes and assessed the quality and pace of work at various sites. He also held discussions with local community members and stakeholders to identify and address issues and challenges related to the implementation of development projects.
The field visit aimed to ensure timely ex*****on transparency quality workmanship and effective community participation in the development schemes being implemented in the area. The concerns raised by the local community were noted for appropriate action and coordination with the concerned stakeholders.

The Program Coordinator ETI GB, accompanied by the Regional Program Coordinator (RPC) RCU Baltistan his field team and the Deputy Director Water Management & Irrigation District Kharmang visited the Irrigation Land Development (ILD) scheme at Bongbong Thang Tolti District Kharmang.
During the field visit the team reviewed the physical and financial progress of the scheme and inspected the ongoing development works at site. The ILD scheme comprises a channel of approximately 8 km serving a command area of 786 acres and benefiting 296 households.
The scheme has achieved approximately 75% physical progress while its financial progress stands at 70%. The visiting team appreciated the progress and emphasized maintaining the pace and quality of work to ensure timely completion of the remaining components and maximum benefit to the farming community.
The visit also provided an opportunity for the ETI GB and WM&I teams to review field level challenges and strengthen coordination among all stakeholders for the successful completion of the ILD scheme.

Today a joint field visit to ILD Mendi Skardu was conducted by the Program Coordinator ETI GB ,RPC Baltistan region ,RCU Baltistan field team and Deputy Director WM&I Skardu to assess the physical progress of the scheme. During the site inspection the physical progress was observed to be approximately 65%, and the visiting team expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved so far.
Following the site visit a meeting was held with the SMT members during which the team reviewed the remaining activities and emphasized the need to ensure timely completion of the ILD in accordance with the approved work plan and quality standards.

On the directions of the GB Cabinet, a Working Committee comprising the Secretaries of Agriculture, Local Government, Water Management & Irrigation, and Forest convened today at the office of the Secretary Water Management & Irrigation to undertake a detailed review of the GB Water Policy.
The committee thoroughly reviewed key provisions of the policy and emphasized clearly defined roles and responsibilities of local communities, District Administration, and relevant government departments to ensure effective implementation, coordination, transparency, and accountability.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan towards sustainable water management, institutional coordination, and responsible utilization of water resources.
