A meeting was held at Gujrat Chamber of Commerce & Industry under the Presidency of Mr. Ahmed Hassan, President of Gujrat Chamber, Meeting with Mr. Akhtar Farooq, DPO Gujrat.
Mr. Ahmed Hassan warmly welcomed the DPO to Gujrat Chamber and congratulated him on receiving the prestigious Sitara-e-Imtiaz for the third time. He introduced him to the industrial and business landscape of Gujrat and also provided an overview of Gujrat Chamber of Commerce & Industry, highlighting its services for members and its role in supporting the business community of Gujrat.
The President stated that Gujrat Chamber and the Police Department have always maintained a strong liaison, and several projects discussed earlier had been successfully completed with the cooperation of the police department. He expressed hope that this strong collaboration would continue in the future as well. He further stated that the Chamber has high expectations that under Mr. Akhtar Farooq’s leadership, the law and order situation in Gujrat would improve further. Mr. Akhtar Farooq thanked everyone and shared that he had been transferred to Gujrat two weeks earlier. He expressed pleasure at meeting the business community at Gujrat Chamber. He appreciated the understanding and awareness of Gujrat’s business community, noting that the district has a large overseas population, making situations more challenging due to diverse perspectives.
He also appreciated the Pink Wheels initiative after seeing scooters at the Chamber and shared that efforts are underway to strengthen women’s protection through a structured system. He assured the business community that his doors are always open and that he would facilitate them in every possible way.
Regarding cheque dishonor cases and FIR-related concerns, he stated that the police always strive to hear both sides before making any decision, emphasizing that decisions based on only one side’s statement could create unnecessary complications.
On departmental FIR matters, he assured participants that efforts would be made for improvement in that area as well.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and La Serene Hotel & Restaurant Kalam. Mr. Ahmed Hassan, President GtCCI, along with Mr. Imran Warraich, Mr. Ali Shan Jamshed, Mr. Adil Ashraf, Mr. Waleed Arif, Mr. Mirza Awais Irfan (Executive Members), and Former President Mr. Sooban Zaheer Butt, visited the Business Incubation Center at the University of Gujrat.
The delegation was warmly received by Umar Warraich, Director Business Incubation Center, and Sheikh Haroon Arshad, Incharge HR, who briefed them on various ongoing projects at the center. On this occasion, a special shield was also presented to Mr. Ahmed Hassan by the BIC management.

Mr. Ahmed Hassan, President of Gujrat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GtCCI), held a significant meeting with Mr. Bilal Azhar Kayani, Minister of State for Finance, at the Prime Minister House, Islamabad. During the meeting, the President highlighted critical issues being faced by Gujrat’s industrial and business sectors and urged the government to take immediate and practical measures for their resolution.
Mr. Ahmed Hassan specifically raised concerns regarding retrospective billing and sales tax-related challenges affecting Gujrat’s pottery industry. He emphasized that rising operational costs and policy constraints have placed this important sector under immense pressure, requiring urgent government attention and support.
He also highlighted the long-pending sales tax refund issues faced by Gujrat’s fan industry, one of the region’s leading export sectors. He stated that substantial amounts worth millions of rupees remain pending and stressed that the immediate release of these refunds is essential to facilitate export growth and strengthen industrial activity.
The meeting further included discussions on the restoration of the DLTL Scheme. In addition, Mr. Ahmed Hassan emphasized the need to remove restrictions on inter-provincial wheat exports to support and promote business activities linked with the flour industry.
During the meeting, Mr. Ahmed Hassan also sought government cooperation and special support for the early establishment of Industrial Estate Phase-II, a highly significant development project for Gujrat. He noted that the successful implementation of this initiative would not only accelerate industrial growth but also generate substantial employment opportunities and contribute positively to the region’s economic development.
