THE DANCE OF WATER
Timeless Continuity and the Identity of Mosque in the Contemporary World.
In this project, I explore the concept of continuity in architecture, emphasizing the fluidity of culture as it evolves over time. I believe that building something new alongside an existing legacy demands a profound sense of responsibility and sensitivity. My approach seeks to create a harmonious dialogue between the past and the present, staying true to the essence of time while pushing towards the future.
This project examines the identity of the mosque as both a sacred space and a community center, particularly within the dynamic environment of a campus. It aspires to transcend form, focusing instead on the creation of spaces that invite flexibility and choices, blending the sacred with the human experience. The design is fragmented and open, embodying a sacred identity through the interplay of light, voids, and construction details.
Islamic art, with its serene geometric beauty, serves as an inspiration. The design employs contemporary interpretations of circles and patterns to create a structure that reflects the infinite connection between the divine and the human. The mosque is accessible from multiple directions, functioning as a public space for the celebration of student and faculty life under the guiding principles of Islamic architecture.
The program is built on an emotional foundation, respecting the purity of geometry and its timeless resonance. This project aims to create a third space—one that merges creative emotion with physical form, embodying a systematic order where every element is interconnected and purposeful, much like the intricate patterns of Islamic geometry. This is an architecture that lives simultaneously in two worlds, honoring both the legacy of the past and the possibilities of the future.
