Duties
The incumbent will work at the journeyman level, install, inspect, operate, maintain, monitor, diagnose, test, adjust, calibrate, clean, repair (including minor reconditioning/rebuilding), and replace fire alarm systems and low voltage electrical distribution systems, including all associated equipment and components at the U.S. Consulate General Peshawar. Performs all Over Seas Building Operations (OBO) and manufacturer required preventive maintenance for all electrical systems and associated equipment. Effectively makes use of relevant tools of trade e.g. Impact drivers, hammer, drills, pipe cutters, spanners, pliers, pipe benders, electrician’s knives, wire st*****rs, solders, and many more.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Minimum Two (2) years of Journeyman level work experience as an electrician or control technician is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: The incumbent must have knowledge of the electrical codes which typically apply to the work assignment. Knowledgeable about the standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment of the electrical trade such as controls, switches, starters, transformers, motors, and panel boards. Aware of the potential occupational hazards connected with electrical work and the safety standards and practices, which should be applied.

Education Requirements:
Completion of Primary School Certificate (5 years of education) is required.

Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Level II (Limited knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing in English and Level III (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing in Urdu are required. English language skills may be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The incumbent should have demonstrated ability to use all normally available electrical trade tools. Ability to work independently, prioritize, document and complete tasks in a timely manner giving due diligence to safety requirements. Good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with staff. Able to routinely move, lift, and/or carry and move, with or without assistance, equipment, parts and job related materials exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly. The incumbent must be able to climb stairs and ladders up to 40 ft., work from scaffolding and high areas using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other tools of trade, and use ramps and aerial devices above ground. Able to use designated PPE to include, but not limited to, American National Standard Institute approved safety eyewear, gloves, hearing protection, full-face shield, respirator mask, and “steel toed” footwear to prevent exposures to hazardous materials, noise, dust and/or other hazards. Able to work both inside and outside in extreme heat and/or cold conditions, as well as conditions that are wet/humid, dry and during times when temperatures are below 32 °F for more than one hour. The employee may be required to bend, squat, stretch and stand, and/or work in cramped areas and/or confined spaces for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to respond to emergencies at all times (24/7/365).

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Peshawar, Pakistan may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:

1. Management may consider any of the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.

2. Current OR employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply. Current OR employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.

3. Current NOR employees hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless they have a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.

4. The candidate must be able to obtain and hold the local security certification.

5. Candidates who are EFMs, USEFMs, AEFMs, or MOHs must have at least one year remaining on their sponsor’s tour of duty to be considered eligible to apply for this position.

6. Current employees who have voluntarily been reassigned/promoted from one position to another are not eligible to apply for six months from the effective date of the reassignment/promotion.

7. U.S. Mission Pakistan will not bear any travel expenses for testing, interviews, pre-employment clearances (if selected) or relocation for joining.
