Sales consultants find potential customers for their company's products. They typically meet with clients at their own company's office or travel to the client's location and may be assigned a specific region in which to travel. Sales consultants explain the features of various products and the benefits of using them. In some instances, they also provide training in how to use the product. After several years in the field, consultants can progress to managerial roles.
Responsibilities for Sales Consultant:
1. Recommend and select products for customers based on their individual needs.
2. Describe products and explain their benefits and uses to potential customers.
3. Communicate with customers in person, by phone, and by email to understand their needs.
4. Maintain a working knowledge of the company's various products and services.
5. Establish and nurture relationships with past customers and potential customers to facilitate sales.
6. Find potential customers through networking, cold calling, and industry research to increase sales.
7. Use data to help customers understand how products can help them achieve their goals.
8. Complete administrative tasks, such as processing and recording sales, as needed.
