STUDY AND WORK IN LATVIA, THE SCHENGEN COUNTRY
Latvia is one of the fastest-growing economies in north-eastern Europe, located in the Baltic Region, and bordered by Estonia, Lithuania, Russia, and Belarus. Latvia is a part of the European Union (EU) since 2004 and since 2014, a part of the Eurozone. There are 36 public institutions for higher education in Latvia for bachelor, master, and Ph.D. study programs.
COST OF EDUCATION: In international study programs, the fee vary from 1,500 and 15,000 euros per academic year. The bachelor's degree program usually costs less (up to 7,000 Euros) than master's degree programs (up to 9,000 Euros). Degrees in a long-term study program, such as Dentistry, can cost anywhere between 2,800 and 12,000 euros per year. Public universities usually have lower prices than private institutions.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT: There are no unified language requirements for international students in Latvia. Usually, study programs are being offered in either Latvian, English, Russian, or a combination of these languages. The higher education institutions do not strictly define the need for internationally recognized language tests (some institutions may ask for IELTS or TOEFL tests). In general, international students must have sufficient competence in the language of instruction. Educational Institutions assess these skills during discussions with the student, or formal exams will be organized by the institutions.

WORK PERMIT REQUIREMENT: There is no requirement for a specific work permit for international students who have a student visa in Latvia. Students are allowed to work at part-time jobs, restricted to 20 hours a week, which helps them with tuition fees and daily expenses.
