Location : Garden City, Bahria Town, Islamabad
Size : 1500 Sq. Yards / 3 Kanal
Scope of Work : Architectural Design + Construction

This Residence is designed on a D-shaped plot. RKS appreciates a challenging site to design building structures. Extensive Site analysis was carried out to choose the best possible location as well as the orientation of the spaces on site. Neighbourhood context and open views further dictated the angle of the residence.
Efficient planning was carried out inorder to decrease the building footprint by as much as possible. As a result, ⅔ of the plot is saved for the Garden space.
Internal spaces are kept well lit with the use of large windows and skylights. Double heighted spaces bring in a sense of openness.
A courtyard is also introduced towards the end of the main hallway. This can been seen the moment one enters the Building through the main door.

CITY TOWN WINDOW HEIGHT SPACES, VERNACULAR ARCHITECTURE

Facade ReDesign 2023 | 01
Location : PHA, Kurri Road, Islamabad
Size : 420 Sq. Yards / 14 Marla

Having previously designed and built by a contractor (swipe right) the Client was not satisfied with the design and overall aesthetics of the Building. The Client wanted an Architect to redesign the Facade. In order to do this in a Cost effective manner, and without disturbing the Structure, we decided to take a Minimal invasive approach. Yellow Gutka is used to clad selected parts of the facade. This was done to highlight as well as bring about a greater depth in the Building’s appearance. A double heighted Bay Window was introduced towards the front, which brought in light and enhanced the elevation further. A Cantilevered shade covers the first floor Veranda with exposed I-Beam. The mix of Gutka Brick, Stucco Paint and exposed Metal combines to give a fresh look to the facade as compared to its previous design.

Location : Intellectual Village, Bahria Town, Islamabad
Size : 1000 Sq. Yards / 2 Kanal
Scope of Work : Elevation Re-Design + Interior

Various claddings were involved in this beautiful triple story residence situated on a steep hillside. RKS meticulously detailed and experimented with various sizes of Travertine stone to carve out this prominent yet subtle, and modern design. Heighted Overhangs and cantilevered structures bring in a sense of splendour. The building stands majestically.
Interiors of the residence are designed with a similar level of elegance. Our favourite room being the study. Nicknamed the “Little Churchill”, it is entirely cladded in wood. Imported Teak wood covers the floors and ceilings, mated neatly with MDF laminates to fill in the blanks.

Location : Bani Gala, Islamabad
Size : 1000 Sq. Yards / 2 Kanal
Scope of Work : Architectural Design

Designed for another American-Pakistani Client. Inspired by Modern and lightweight structures abroad. The client asked us to use our knowledge of Timber Technology based techniques. In order to design a bespoke steel and wooden structure on their property in Bani Gala. The Site was a 2 Kanal plot with a steep slope. Taking this to our advantage, RKS designed a cantilevered structure with an open basement. Only ⅓ of the plot was used with efficient planning.
External stairs lead to the basement which allows for a secondary entrance to the residence.
Two complete units, each on separate floors are designed should part of the property be rented out for a B&B. A central Void and Skylight brings a sense of connectivity between both floors, at the same time gives a feeling of openness inside the building.
⅔ of the floor plan is also cantilevered towards the rear. For this reason, a viewing deck is designed under the cantilevered structure.

Location : Bedian Farms, Lahore
Size : 12 Acres, 15,000 Sq.Ft
Scope of Work : Facade Uplift + Retrofit

This Sleek Modern Farmhouse was designed for a young family who wanted to reconstruct and refresh their property. With their parents and sibling’s residences in the same vicinity designed by well known architects, RKS wanted to make an impression but at the same time kept it simple and impactful.
Varying sizes of Travertine stone is used to clad the Facade. Larger pieces of the stone are used at prominent areas whereas smaller pieces are used elsewhere to save costs. Grooves designed carefully around the entire Facade to gel in the varying sizes of Travertine. Double heighted spaces bring in both natural light and a sense of grandeur. Wrought Iron grills and sleek window frames completes the design.
All four sides of the Elevation were designed. The client required an open swimming pool which was strategically placed, keeping in mind privacy and views from inside of the house. Carefully curated spaces creating impact.

IRON HEIGHT SPACES ARCHITECTURE GARDEN HOUSE

Location : DHA, Sector C, Phase 5. Islamabad
Size : 1200 Sq. Yards
Scope of Work : Architectural Design

This Modern Villa was elegantly designed for two brothers to live together in a combined unit with their families. Simultaneously they required an informal division between the two units inside one residence. The plot is located at an elevated location, towering over most of the other properties in the area. Along with open views towards 3 directions. The Site Contours allowed for an open Basement, including access from both front and back. Based the site, RKS began with carving the open basement with a central pool. To promote ventilation and a buffer zone a central courtyard was introduced. Upon elongating the courtyard, a sense of division appeared within the building. The final challenge was to incorporate two independent units, one in each half.
With a combined total of 7 rooms in the residence, each with their own walk-in closets and bathrooms, both units may act as one, or two. Both units contain their own kitchen, study rooms, living and entertainment spaces with independent access. There is parking for each unit separately due to two gates, one at the front and the other at the back.

Location : Bahria Enclave, F-Block. Islamabad
Size : 500 Sq. Yards / 1 Kanal
Scope of Work : Architectural Design + Interior Design

Designed for an American-Pakistani Client. Their goal was to get reconnected with their roots after living in modern American homes for the last 30 Years. They wanted the Traditional Pakistani Architectural Experience. With the Amenities they were used to living abroad. RKS Successfully managed to convert their desires into a reality by customising to their exact needs and requirements. It was a Corner Plot hence making both elevations equally important. RKS decided to utilise the Side Elevation (the longer side) which is usually ignored. It was transformed into the main elevation. The use of Jharokha , a prominent feature in the history of the subcontinent. It is primarily a balcony with intricate wood carvings. Hence engaging local artisans and enabling a lost art to be revived in the process. The unique feature being a Jharoka inside the Double heighted space. Which acts as a symbol in which the family members can interconnect and converse on split levels through this work of art. The Balcony played a more functional role as well in terms of climate control and dissipating direct sun rays. While framing the views of Islamabad’s Hills. RKS focuses on creative problem solving. By using rich textures and local materials the feeling of warmth was welcomed.
