Two red-folder US releases land at the exact same minute today β 5:30 PM PKT. If you're in USD pairs, gold, or US stocks, read this before you click buy.
Today is one of those sessions where the market picks a direction in about 90 seconds and spends the rest of the day defending it.
At 5:30 PM PKT (8:30 AM ET) the US drops two high-impact releases together π
π Core PCE m/m β forecast 0.2%, previous 0.1%
π Prelim GDP q/q (Q2 second estimate) β forecast 1.5%, previous 1.5%
π Durable Goods, Personal Income & Personal Spending β same window
Why this one matters more than a normal data day:
Core PCE is the Fed's preferred inflation gauge, and it's still sitting well above the 2% target while the Fed holds rates at 3.50%β3.75%. Three FOMC members already voted to hike at the last meeting. A hot number feeds the hawks. A soft number gives the doves ammunition. Either way β DXY, EURUSD, gold and US indices are all pricing off the same line of text.
Then it continues:
π’ 7:30 PM PKT β Crude Oil Inventories (forecast 1.6M vs 4.4M previous)
π€ 8:45 PM PKT β FOMC member Barkin speaks
Here's the part we keep repeating at The Trade School: news doesn't create the move, it releases it. The imbalance was already built into the chart before the number printed.
So do the work now, not at 5:29:
β
Mark your key supply and demand zones before the release
β
Watch the spread and volume on the first reaction candle β that bar tells you whether the move has real participation behind it or whether it's just a spike into thin liquidity
β
Know your invalidation level before you're in the trade
And if you're still learning? The most professional thing you can do today is sit out the first 15 minutes. Spreads widen, stops get taken out on both sides, and no setup is worth a slipped fill.
This is education, not financial advice. Trade your own plan and your own risk.
