IFRS 17 compliance is no longer just about getting the numbers right.
Regulators are increasingly interested in the reporting process behind those numbers.
For insurers, that means being able to demonstrate:
• Timeliness: reporting processes designed to meet recurring regulatory deadlines
• Explainability: clear evidence of how assumptions, methodologies and movements were determined
• Traceability: the ability to follow results from underlying data through reporting outputs
• Consistency: standardized reporting across financial statements, disclosures and regulatory submissions
• Governance: controlled workflows, documented judgement and an auditable reporting environment
The real question is no longer:
“Can you produce your IFRS 17 numbers?”
It is:
“Can you explain, reproduce and defend how those numbers were produced?”
Our latest article explores what this means for insurers across Pakistan, the GCC, Jordan and the wider MENA region, and why the strength of the IFRS 17 reporting infrastructure behind the numbers matters as much as the numbers themselves.
