WHAT WAS THEIR FAULT?
Tuesday, December 16, 2014.
Unfortunately as the year neared its end so did so many young innocent lives. More than 150 pairs of eyes opened up today along with the rising sun in hopes of following their everyday routine of brushing their teeth, getting dressed up, having breakfast and bidding farewell to their parents as they set out towards their school in hopes of learning something new. Alas! Who would’ve known this is the last dawn they see. Who would’ve known this would be their last meal. Who would’ve known this was the last time they hugged and wished their parents goodbye.
Being a Pakistani, it’s quite common to be hearing about some sort of terrorist activity going around in some part of the country every now and then but today marked a whole new low in the history of our nation. In has been 12 years since the war on terror had started and things still seem unclear whether any operation is even going on or not? Because clearly attacks like this is a slap on the face of the world’s finest intelligence agency. While our Prime Minister openly barks out promises of “pulling out terrorism from the roots” and our provincial governments allot money to the family of the deceased and affected the questions still remain. Does money and words comfort the pain of a crying mother? Does it bring back the hope for a father who now knows he has no one to rely on his last days? Though the answer is pretty evident one question still remains. What was their fault?
Why is it that the youth suffers from the consequences of the mistakes done by the old? Hasn’t our country seen enough blood already from Lal Masjid, PNS Karsaz, Wagah Border and many more countless acts of terrorism? Haven’t enough innocent lives been lost that might make our leaders think for one second about the well being of citizens of Pakistan? Why would they right? They have their bullet proof cars, they have their numerous guards but what did those 150 little kids have? A little school bag and possibly lunch for the half hour break they’d get? Or were supposed to… A parent of one of the victims is cited to have said “Tum loug kehte ho hum log apne bachon ko parhate likhate nahi. Parhne bheja tha kafan main wapis la raha hun.” [You say we don’t educate our kids. I sent him to study and I’m bringing him back in a coffin] The country’s literacy rate is barely struggling and acts like these will be of no benefit whatsoever. If it were any landlord’s son he’d have his guards protect him 24/7 but no they belonged to common middle and lower class families. Who would miss them right?
The water is way above the head and it is about time the army understand that they’re not fighting terrorists anymore; heck these so called “Mujahideen” are giving the entire Muslim Ummah a bad name. “A Muslim is he from whose hands and tongue others are safe” (Bukhari). After reading that no follower of the Prophet (S.A.W.) would carry out such an inhumane act as was done by these “Jihadis”.
I usually don’t write this stuff specially knowing that a lot more people die due to much smaller issues and people don’t pay attention to them because they don’t get the media attention but that doesn’t mean one should be heartless and cold towards this event. Today should teach us all a valuable lesson. You never know what’s going to happen with you in the future. You never will know when it is going to be your last day so count your blessings and be thankful to Allah for all you have. Likewise knowing how well spread out the terrorist network is, any one of us could be caught up in an event like this so please stay safe and finally let’s not forget the fallen. They can break our bones but not our spirits. Please lets all at least recite Surah Fatiha once for the deceased and the ones struggling to live and also pray that Allah protects us all and our nation. Ameen. Along with that I am planning to sign a petition soon urging the government officials of Pakistan to provide proper security to school, hospitals and homes in the war-zone areas so that another event like this does not take place in the near future. Please support me in this cause so one else has to suffer anymore. In Shaa Allah.
