The True Believer (Mard-e-Momin): His Need, Significance, and Role
By Zia Shabbir
A Mard-e-Momin (True Believer) is a person who has attained unwavering faith and allowed it to shape every aspect of his life.
In Islam, a true believer is one whose heart is filled with love for Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and whose soul is devoted to the love of Allah. Such a person is not driven by ego or worldly desires but by sincere faith, righteous character, and obedience to the Creator.
Humanity does not merely need physically strong individuals—it needs Mard-e-Momin, people who have conquered their own selves before attempting to change the world. They are individuals who have awakened their true potential, whose vision rises beyond worldly limits, and whose lives become a source of goodness for both themselves and society.
A true believer is someone whose presence reminds people of Allah, whose character reflects mercy, humility, and sincerity, and whose gatherings inspire faith and righteousness. Though he walks upon the earth, his heart remains connected to the heavens.
The greatest victory is not over others—it is over one's own self. A Mard-e-Momin first conquers his inner weaknesses. Once he gains mastery over his soul, he becomes deeply conscious of Allah. His thoughts, intentions, memories, and actions are dedicated to seeking the pleasure of his Lord.
If we truly desire to reform society, we must first nurture individuals who know themselves and who know their Creator. When such people become widespread, true transformation begins—a revolution of goodness, justice, mercy, and faith.
For Muslims, the greatest revolution in history is the revolution brought by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. His guidance is not merely one solution among many—it is the foundation for lasting personal and social transformation. Without embracing the divine way of life he brought, neither individuals nor societies can experience genuine and lasting change.
Every lasting revolution begins within the individual. When the heart is transformed, society is transformed.
The path to becoming a Mard-e-Momin is through sincere love for Allah, devotion to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, following his noble example (Uswah Hasanah), and living according to the guidance of the Qur'an and the Sunnah.
This is the kind of person our world needs today.
