* Filter Fabric: This is a fabric placed around the drainage mat to prevent soil particles from entering and clogging the drainage system.
* Perforated Perimeter Drain: This is a perforated pipe that collects groundwater and directs it away from the foundation.
* Gravel Backfill: This is a layer of gravel surrounding the perforated drainpipe. The gravel allows water to flow freely into the drainpipe.
* Wall Footing: This is the base of the foundation wall that rests on the soil.

How it works:

1. Groundwater Collection: Groundwater seeps into the gravel backfill surrounding the perforated drainpipe.
2. Water Flow: The water flows through the gravel and into the perforated drainpipe.
3. Water Removal: The drainpipe carries the water away from the foundation, preventing it from accumulating around the basement walls.
