As we commemorate the one-year anniversary of the harrowing Jaranwala incident, it compels us to deeply reflect on our humanity and our responsibility toward the marginalized in our society. This solemn occasion reminds us of the urgent need to foster a more inclusive and compassionate community, where justice and dignity are upheld for all.

In a meaningful effort to contribute to this cause, the Center for Law and Justice is launching the second cohort of the Khushhali Fellowship Program in Jaranwala in partnership with the High Commission of Canada in Pakistan. This initiative is designed to empower young girls from marginalized backgrounds, particularly those whose families are engaged in menial labor. The program emphasizes the core values of leadership, altruism, and cooperation, providing these girls with the tools and opportunities to not only improve their own lives but also to uplift their communities.

The first cohort of the Khushhali Fellowship, launched in Lahore, focused on the daughters of sanitation workers. This new cohort expands the mission, targeting the daughters of menial laborers across Jaranwala, and helping them overcome social, economic, and financial barriers. Through education and career opportunities, these young leaders are equipped to support themselves, contribute to their families, and drive positive change in society.
