Honda Increases Bike Prices Yet Again

Despite the low import cost and relatively stronger value of Rupee compared to lockdown time, the company has decided to bump up the prices of the Honda CD-70 and the Honda CG-125 by Rs. 1000 and Rs. 2000 respectively. This makes it the third time Atlas Honda has decided to increase the price of the bikes since the beginning of 2021.

The Pakistan Citizen Portal received 1,045,027 complaints against 53 Punjab departments in the last two years. According to the data provided by the departments, 1,007,000 complaints have been redressed while 21,660 complaints are pending.

The official data given to daily Jang says 536,524 people gave their feedback on these complaints. Of them, 63 per cent (338,891) showed lack of trust in the departments, whereas 37 per cent complainants appeared satisfied.

Punjab Govt to Promote Chip Technology in Universities

The announcement was made at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) during the seminar ‘Skills Development in Micro and Nanoelectronics Design Technologies in the Universities of Punjab’ that the minister attended as a chief guest.

While discussing the possible integration of microchips and nanochips with universities in Pakistan, he remarked that the provincial government initially plans to promote the technology at nine well-known universities, and added that the UET Lahore will take the lead on this project.

First Congo virus patient reported in Karachi

A patient at the city’s Jinnah Hospital has been diagnosed with Congo virus, citing a hospital official. “A patient infected with Congo Fever virus has been admitted at the Jinnah Hospital,” Dr. Seemi Jamali said today. It is the first patient of the Congo virus reported this year.

“The patient has been a cowherd and resident of Bilawal Chowrangi in Karachi,” Dr. Jamali said.

The patient, was brought to Jinnah Hospital over symptoms of the Congo fever. The hospital confirmed Congo virus in the patient after medical test reports. A Congo virus alert had been issued last year for the metropolis, stipulating precautionary instructions for all those people who were visiting cattle farms. The alert was issued by the KMC to hospitals, directing them to adopt special precautions for a Congo affected patient. It had further asked hospitals to establish special wards for Congo patients, and run awareness campaigns about the virus. The disease was caused when a tick attaches itself to the skin of cattle and when that infected tick or animal comes in contact with people, the highly contagious virus was transmitted into the human body and the person falls ill.

Pakistan schools are set to resume five-day classes from March 1 but the same policy does not apply to universities, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan said Friday.

In a series of tweets, the HEC said that all universities are instructed to continue academic and research in accordance with the relevant instructions provided in the previous Covid-19 guidance notes.

The universities will remain open for the following students:

Those who have internet problems at home
Foreign students
MPhil and PhD students
Final year students

“In no case, shall the total number of the students permitted to come to campus should exceed 30 percent of the total enrollment,” the policy read, adding that if classes are held on campus, the management will be responsible for ensuring coronavirus SOP implementation.
