A commercial pilot got the surprise of a lifetime mid-flight when a message popped up on his control screen saying his daughter had just been born!

The message from the airline’s operations center read:
“Dear Captain! Your brother called us a few minutes ago, your daughter was born. Both mother and daughter are well. Congratulations on behalf of the whole OCC!”

The moment went viral after a crew member shared a photo, proving that even at 35,000 feet, good news can still find its way through.

Strobes are the bright white lights that flash about once per second. Beacon is a light that flashes slowly. They are the brightest lights on the aircraft, and are used to signal that an aircraft is entering or approaching an active runway, or for visibility in dark, clear sky.

Beacon lights are bright enough to be seen from the ground, and can be used to identify aircraft from the ground in dark or overcast conditions where the plane itself isn't completely visible.

Strobes and beacons are considered anti-collision lights. Anti-collision lights which should be used whenever the engine is running except when they interfere with ground operations. Strobes do not have to be used all the time if a beacon is on.
