Conversation Between HR and Candidate:
HR: "Thank you for coming in today, Ali. We're really impressed with your experience and believe you’d be a great fit for the team at our company. Let's talk about the offer. We're prepared to offer you a salary of 150,000 PKR."
Candidate: "Thank you. I appreciate the offer, but given my experience and the market standards, I expected a salary closer to 200,000 PKR."
HR: "I understand your position, Ali. However, 150,000 PKR is what we can offer at this time. This package and the benefits and growth opportunities at our company make it a strong offer. How do you feel about that?"
Candidate : [Pauses] "Well, I was really hoping for more, but I do like the company and the role. I’ll accept the offer."
HR: "That’s great to hear, Ali! Welcome aboard! I’m confident you’ll do amazing things here. We’re excited to have you on the team."
[HR feels proud of her negotiation skills, believing she’s managed to secure a talented candidate within the company’s budget.]
A Few Months Later:
Ali starts to feel underpaid compared to their peers and begins to feel deprived of his position. Despite the initial excitement, he realizes that the salary doesn’t meet his expectations. This dissatisfaction leads him to start searching for new job opportunities.
Internal Discussion at Company:
HR: "We’ve just received Ali’s resignation. It seems he’s moving on to a position that offers better pay. It’s unfortunate, but we’ll need to begin the recruitment process again. Let’s ensure we review our offers more closely this time to avoid losing another talented team member so soon."
The company begins the recruitment process once again, recognizing the importance of aligning salary offers with candidates’ expectations to retain top talent.
