A Gang Saw Machine is a very important industrial machine used for cutting large blocks of natural stones like marble and granite into thin sheets called slabs.
1. Working Principle:
· This machine has multiple blades mounted together on a single frame, which move up and down simultaneously in a reciprocating motion.
· The distance between the blades (pitch) is fixed, allowing a single block to be cut into several slabs at once.
· A mixture of water and a cutting additive (like lime slurry or silicon carbide) is used for cutting. This mixture acts as a lubricant and coolant between the blade and the stone.
2. Main Components:
· Blade Frame: This holds multiple steel blades in a straight line.
· Main Motor: Powers the up-and-down movement of the frame.
· Block Clamping System: Holds the block firmly in place.
· Cutting Fluid Tank: Stores the mixture of water and additive.
· Control Panel: Used to operate and control the machine.
3. Types of Gang Saws:
· Frame Gang Saw: This is the most common type. The frame holding the blades moves in a straight line, up and down.
· Multi-blade Gang Saw: This type uses a very high number of blades to cut a block into many thin slabs simultaneously.
4. Working Process:
1. Block Loading: First, a large marble block is placed inside the machine's central chamber.
2. Clamping: The block is tightly secured using a hydraulic system to prevent any movement.
3. Cutting: The motor starts, causing the blade frame to move up and down, gradually penetrating into the block.
4. Spraying of Cutting Fluid: The cutting fluid is continuously sprayed over the blades and the block throughout the process.
5. Slab Removal: Once the entire block is cut, the clamps are released, and the individual slabs are removed.
5. Advantages of Gang Saw:
· High Production: Multiple slabs are obtained from a single block in one operation.
· Uniform Thickness: All slabs have a consistent and precise thickness.
· Less Wastage: Beca.
