Professor .vilas_boas from Portugal invites you to join our conference “Honey under the magnifying glass – what does the Breakfast Directive change?”

On 27 October, he will also join us as one of the conference experts.

Prof. Miguel Vilas Boas is based at the School of Agriculture of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, Portugal. His scientific work covers beekeeping and bee products, including their quality evaluation. He is also Vice-President of the Technology and Quality Scientific Commission of APIMONDIA.

Bringing together knowledge and perspectives from different European countries is an important part of our conference. We will discuss honey quality and authenticity, origin, new labelling requirements and the changes introduced by the European Breakfast Directive.

From a garage next to the family home to the company we know today.

We’re taking another look through the LYSON photo archives. 📸
Back in the 1990s, LYSON looked very different. The company operated next to the family home in Sułkowice, the garage served as a warehouse, and our beehives and beekeeping equipment were produced on a much smaller scale.

Today, almost everything has changed: the scale of production, technology, facilities, the number of products we offer and the markets our equipment reaches.

But looking back at these old photos is a great reminder of where it all started.

We’ll be digging into our archives more often to show you LYSON then and now! 😁

🍯 Is information on the label alone enough to be certain where honey really comes from?

This is one of the topics that Professor Michał Halagarda will address during the conference “Honey under the magnifying glass – what does the Breakfast Directive change?”

He is a scientist and a member of the EU Honey Platform, involved in work on solutions aimed at improving honey traceability and authenticity control.

As he points out in our video, the new regulations are an important step towards greater market transparency, but declaring the country of harvest alone does not solve all the problems. Effective protection of the honey market also requires monitoring product flows, reliable analytical methods and tools that can verify honey authenticity.

It will be an opportunity to look at the new regulations not only from the perspective of legal provisions, but above all through their real impact on the honey market, beekeepers and the effectiveness of control systems.

A lot has changed over the years.

Technology moved forward, equipment became more advanced, and beekeeping workshops look very different today. But some things remain exactly the same - the passion!

While going through the LYSON archives, we found plenty of old photos: honey extractors, machines, trade fair stands and people who have been part of our story over the years.

So we’re starting a little nostalgic series: LYSON – Then & Now.

🐝 Come and see LYSON from the inside!

At our factory in Klecza Dolna, Poland, we regularly welcome groups of beekeepers from Poland and abroad. This time, we had the pleasure of hosting a group from the Czech Republic 🇨🇿.

But our doors are open to organized groups from anywhere!

Whenever possible, we are happy to arrange a visit and show you around our production facilities, take you to Apilandia - interactive museum, and give you a closer look at how LYSON products are made and what our company looks like behind the scenes.

It’s a great opportunity to see our work up close, learn more about our technologies and, of course, talk about beekeeping.
