Rynek will be a sea of red this evening as tens of thousands of Wisła Kraków fans take over the market square to celebrate their team's promotion to Ekstraklasa.

The final game of the season kicks off at 4.30pm, after the game and the trophy presentation, the fans will march to Rynek, then around 8pm, the players will travel by bus through the city to Rynek, then the real party begins!

ANCIENT GATE OPENING CEREMONY RETURNS

Tradition from 1721 returns from 10am on Sunday, 10th May.

On Thursday, I was invited to attend the official signing of an agreement between the Kraków Museum, the Municipal Police, and the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Kraków to revive the historic City Gate Opening Ceremony.

Based on a 1721 ordinance, this unique ceremony will recreate the tradition of ceremonially opening the Kleparz Gate at the Barbican to the sounds of the historic “Cracovia Civitas” melody.

During the event, several historical Hejnał trumpets were displayed, including instruments dating back to the late 19th century, 1920, and even one of the most recently retired trumpets removed from service just last month.

The first performances of the revived ceremony will take place this weekend:

• Saturday, 9th May – 10:00 AM at the Barbican (shortened version with Mayor Aleksander Miszalski participating)

• Sunday, 10th May – Full ceremonial version beginning after the St. Mary’s bugle call, around 10:15 AM, including a procession from St. Mary’s Church to the Barbican.

The Auschwitz-Birkenau museum announced today (4.2.26) that entry tickets for visitors to the museum will only be available online from the 1st of March.

The museum has taken action to avoid 2am pickups, having guests queue for tickets, and other unscrupulous practices by some tour operators.
