Heading into the 2026 season, former Texas Tech star Jacob Rodriguez is the ONLY Rookie “Green Dot” Player in the NFL. This means he will be the defensive play-caller for the Dolphins in his 1st season in the NFL!

For context, players with a green dot on their helmet have a helmet that includes a radio speaker for direct coach to player communication…making it easy for that player to call plays for their team. Only 1 offensive player (usually QB) and 1 defensive player (usually LB) per team can be assigned the green dot role at a time.

Awesome accomplishment. Well-deserved! 👆🔴
