⚖️ On October 23rd, we gathered for a thought-provoking Viennese-style debate co-hosted by Poland VYAP, AFM below 40, and Sołtysiński Kawecki & Szlęzak law firm, as part of Solidarity Arbitration and Mediation Days 2024: “The Budget Warrior: Surviving in Arbitration as an Impecunious Party”

💬 The debate centered around a January 2024 Polish Supreme Court ruling that rendered an arbitration clause unenforceable due to one party’s lack of funds — a decision that has sparked much discussion in the arbitration community. Our moderators Monika Diehl and Justyna Kucia challenged our speakers Paula Eiben-Działoszyńska, Aleksander Godhe (Kalisz), Milosz Palej, and Antoni Żukowski in a Viennese-style Debate in exploring this issue and discussing broader implications for arbitration’s accessibility.

Poland VYAP has exciting news about the next edition of International Arbitration Skills Masterclass organized by American Bar Association International Law Section!

❓ What?
The ABA International Law Section is holding the third annual International Arbitration Skills Masterclass: a two-day hands-on virtual training program, delivered by some of the world’s best international arbitration lawyers.
The Masterclass, which is aimed primarily at junior to mid-level practitioners, will comprise a mixture of panel discussions and practice sessions, covering all aspects of an arbitral hearing (opening statements, examination of witnesses, examination of experts, and closing statements).

World-leading international arbitration practitioners and arbitrators will share their experiences and advice on how to deliver powerful oral submissions and effectively examine witnesses. There will also be a session on top tips for making an impact in a hearing.

After each panel discussion, the participants will have an opportunity to develop their advocacy and witness-examination skills through practice sessions in groups of four participants. Each practice session will be supervised by an experienced faculty member, who will provide participants with tailored feedback.

Following the success of the 2021 and 2022 editions of the Masterclass, the 2023 edition will include a mock arbitral hearing demonstration, which will see two leading practitioners demonstrate a variety of strategies and techniques by cross-examining experienced experts.

The event will also provide an excellent networking opportunity, including through a virtual networking event.

We wtorek uczestniczyliśmy w spotkaniu ze studentami prawa na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim, podczas którego rozmawialiśmy o VYAP Poland oraz konkursach typu moot court dla studentów prawa. W drugiej części spotkania przeprowadziliśmy merytoryczne zajęcia z arbitrażu międzynarodowego, podczas których omówiliśmy zagadnienia dotyczące zarzutu braku właściwości sądu polubownego oraz tego jak prawidłowo napisać klauzulę arbitrażową.
Podziękowania dla dr Rafała Morka za zaproszenie na zajęcia i umożliwienie nam promowania VYAP Poland oraz dziedziny arbitrażu wśród studentów. Dziękujemy również studentom za uczestnictwo oraz pytania zadawane w trakcie wykładu. Zapraszamy do kontaktu za pośrednictwem naszych SM, jeżeli macie jeszcze jakieś dodatkowe pytania.

Pre-moot season is now in full swing and Willem C. Vis Moot is finally coming to Warsaw!

14th Warsaw Pre-Moot (organized by University of Warsaw VIS Moot Team is taking place on 4 and 5 March 2023, and will be preceded by a conference "DISCRETION OR RANDOMNESS: ARBITRATOR'S DECISION MAKING FRAMEWORK" with esteemed panelists such as Beata Gessel-Kalinowska vel Kalisz, DSc, Małgorzata Surdek-Janicka and Eligiusz Krześniak.

Ostatnia chwila by zarejestrować się na Christmas Charity Dinner organizowany przez ICC Poland, który odbędzie się 6 grudnia 2022 r. w Hotelu Westin.

podczas kolacji odbędzie się aukcja charytatywna, której celem będzie zebranie środków do przekazania Fundacja Ocalenie, która od dwudziestu lat pomaga cudzoziemcom i cudzoziemkom budować nowe życie w Polsce.

W 2021 roku ponad 3 tys. osób skorzystało z pomocy fundacji. Mentorzy i mentorki kulturowe, w ramach pracy Centrum Pomocy Cudzoziemcom, przeprowadzili ponad 9300 konsultacji. W kursach języka polskiego dla dorosłych, w trzech trymestrach, uczestniczyło 755 osób. Wsparcie mieszkaniowe, w ramach 2 programów integracyjno-mieszkaniowych: Witaj w Domu oraz Refugees Welcome, otrzymały 83 osoby. Prawie 1500 osób odwiedziło Magazin i skorzystało z pomocy rzeczowej. W latach 2018-2022 około 250 dzieci z doświadczeniem uchodźczym i migranckim, wzięło udział w programie tutoringowym.
