Have you been trying to defeat a giant with somebody else's armor?

Somebody else's budget system. Somebody else's morning routine. Somebody else's business model. Somebody else's ministry rhythm.

David tried Saul's armor. It fit Saul. It was too big for David. So he took it off and picked up what was already in his hand. Five smooth stones.

Only one of those stones brought Goliath down. But he had to pick them all up first.

There is not one season we have walked through that God did not walk through with us.

Not the layoff in June 2020. Not the debt years. Not the wilderness stretches where we could not see the next step. And not the day He told us to move to Puerto Rico.
It happened during a worship service at our church, V1 Church in Indiana. I started seeing what looked like a movie playing in front of my eyes. God's presence was so heavy I could only weep. When Diana looked over at me, I was red, sobbing. She closed her eyes and did not know yet, but God was speaking the same thing to her.

The service ended. We got in the truck. I turned to Diana to tell her what I had seen. I could see she was about to tell me something too. This time I went first. Then she followed. Same vision. Same word. Same direction. Puerto Rico.

We had received a sign from God, both of us, at the same moment.

Every season since then has confirmed it. Sometimes as a cloud we could barely make out. Sometimes as fire in the middle of the night. Sometimes as water from a rock we did not know was there.

You told your wife the vision. You told your closest friend. You told God every morning for the last two years.

And still, no fruit.

Here is what I have learned. The season of building looks like failure from the outside. It feels like failure on the inside. But it is not failure. It is formation.

A baby in the womb is not producing anything visible. She is being formed. Every cell knitting together. Every organ finding its place. When she finally arrives, everyone celebrates. Nobody remembers the nine months.

Your building season is that womb. God is knitting something together. When it arrives, everyone will call it overnight. You will know it was not.

Keep building. The fruit is still coming.

Nadie escoge el desierto. Pero ahí es donde Dios entrena a los que Él va a usar en grande.

Israel salió de Egipto directo al desierto. No fue error de mapa. Fue el itinerario de Dios. Y en ese desierto que se veía como abandono, hizo lo que no había hecho en Egipto. Los guió con una nube visible de día y una columna de fuego de noche. Partió una roca y sacó agua para tres millones de personas. Los alimentó del cielo cada mañana.

Salmos 78:14-16 no es una historia antigua. Es un mapa.

Si estás en un desierto ahora mismo, pregúntate. ¿Hay una nube que te está guiando aunque no entiendas la dirección? ¿Hay un fuego que te está sosteniendo en las noches largas? ¿Hay una roca que se abrió cuando pensabas que no había manera?

El desierto no es la ausencia de Dios. Es donde Su presencia se ve más clara porque no hay ruido de Egipto compitiendo por tu atención.

Bebe de la roca. Sigue caminando.

Hay una oración que llevas años queriendo orar pero no te atreves.

La pregunta que te haces cuando cierras los ojos en la noche.

Ese negocio. Esa casa. Esa restauración. Ese ministerio a las naciones. Ese hijo que todavía no ha regresado.

Jabes tenía una lista igual. Su madre lo había llamado "dolor" al nacer. Sus hermanos tenían más credenciales, mejor historia, mejor punto de partida. Nada en su currículum decía que él merecía más.

Pero abrió la boca y pidió. Y Dios le concedió lo que pidió.
La diferencia no fue el mérito. Fue el valor de pedir.

God is not embarrassed by big asks. He is embarrassed by small ones.

Jabez asked God to enlarge his territory. Not fix his problems. Not help him get by. Enlarge it. 1 Chronicles 4:10 says God granted it.

You have been praying small because small feels safe. Small feels humble. But asking small is not humility. It is unbelief wearing a humble costume.

What territory has God already given you that you have not asked Him to enlarge? Your income. Your influence. Your family. Your business.

Pray the prayer of Jabez over it today. Ask big. Watch what He does.
