I was recently challenged to write a mission statement for CBU Consulting. I sat down to do it, and I realized something fundamental: a traditional mission statement doesn't quite capture the essence of what I do. It felt too grand, too all-encompassing for the precise, focused work I perform for my clients.
My purpose isn't some broad, abstract 'mission' in the corporate sense. Instead, it's an obvious and defined function—a particular, practical, and highly specialized function within the complex administration of your small business. I don't aim to be the entirety of your business; I aim to be the essential components you need, precisely when you need them.
Think of me not as an external vendor, but as a key department that you can seamlessly integrate into your operations and tap into precisely when you need it most. I am the agile, on-demand solution for critical business functions that often overwhelm small business owners. I am a sophisticated finance team that can step in to help you meticulously budget, forecast, and manage your cash flow, ensuring your financial health and stability. I am the operations expert who can meticulously analyze your current processes, identify bottlenecks, and strategically streamline them to boost efficiency and profitability. And I am the seasoned strategic advisor who can provide insightful guidance to help a you meticulously plan your next move, identify growth opportunities, and navigate complex business challenges with confidence.
My job, at its core, is to fill a specific, pressing need and get a specific, accomplishable task. I handle the intricacies and the critical administrative burdens that often divert your attention, so that you, the visionary entrepreneur, can remain laser-focused on your core mission: growing your business, innovating your products or services, and serving your customers with unparalleled dedication.
