Hi all! Some of you may (or may not) have noticed that I've practically disappeared from social media. I've realised, once and for all, how absolutely awful it is for my mind, body, and soul to pour any energy into these spaces. Unfortunately, that means it's harder to get eyes on my business but after spending two months away from the dr*g that is Instagram, I can say I have no desire to go back.

All that to say, if you want some jewellery from me, fear not! I'm still creating things and if you're interested in any of my pieces you can contact me through halfmooncarft.com or through halfmooncraft.etsy.com

I'll still put up some photos of my work sporadically to remind you I exist, but for the most part, don't expect to see me lurking around here.

Did you know you can find my brass cuffs in-store at Sr. Jacinto in Caldas da Rainha? This lovely shop is home to all sorts of beautiful hand-made goods from local artists. If you're in town, keep an eye out for it!

Most of you dont know this but I used to have very long, very heavy dreadlocks. It was three years ago today that I cut them off on a whim and began the journey of rediscovering my hair.

Since then, I've absolutely fallen in love with my curls again (after 9 years of dreads) and as my hair gets longer and longer, I'm discovering that curly hair needs special attention.

And that's where hair forks come in! Only, I didn't find that out for a long time!

I discovered very quickly that hairbands wreak havoc with my hair. I tried scrunchies, I tried those curly hairbands that are supposed to put less pressure on the curls, I tried just wearing it out (which drives me crazy).

And then I made some hairforks for a market and decided I should test them out myself.

Long story short, I've been wearing this hair forks every single day since I made it and I don't think I'll ever go back to regular hairbands!

It's the only thing that lets me keep my curls after having my hair up for an entire day!

Hooray!

I recently created this custom fine collar from recycled sterling silver for a very lovely customer and I loved it so much its now available as a made-to-order piece!

It's up now in my €t§y along with the brass hair forks I promised you!

I really like how simple and elegant this piece is. I don't see a lot of collars that are made with such fine wire and I really like how it subtly draws attention without being overwhelming.

It was especially fun to make the clasp, which keeps the whole thing secure!

Also, I secretly felt very classy wearing this piece 🤗

Something huge is happening! This week my partner, Nuno, and I signed the deed on a small property with what will one day be our home!

We've been speaking about this literally since the first day we got together and I'm so utterly grateful to have taken a massive step in the direction of what we want our lives to look like.

We're both so passionate about simple, sustainable living, and doing up this old ruin, planting a garden that will feed us and regenerate the land, and putting systems in place that reduce our dependence on capitalist structures are in the very near future for us!

There's a long path ahead until we get to where we want to be but it feels good to have a tangible place and project to pour our efforts into after dreaming for so long ❤️

I can't wait for the day when I can show you pictures of my new workshop in the countryside!

I've been wearing one of these hair forks constantly for the last week and I absolutely love them! They're so simple but elegant, and of course super easy to use.

And if you're wondering (which I'm sure you are), YES, they're incredibly secure!

I know I'm supposed to act all cool about sales or whatever but OH MY GOD a lovely woman sent me a message on ët§y asking to visit my workshop, brought two of her friends with her, and proceeded to buy almost 300€ worth of jewellery, including this Moonchild Pendant!

This is by far the biggest sale I've ever made and it comes at a time when I've been really stressed about money.

My month just went from 'I'm not sure if we can buy food until September' to 'I am at ease and stable.'

I really can't overstate how much of a difference it makes in the lives of small makers when you shop small ❤️
