The GOOD project has developed a new toolbox to help farmers choose the right strategy for agroecological w**d control. This Agroecological W**d Management toolbox is now available online and free of charge.

What is the Agroecological W**d Management (AWM) Toolbox?
The digital AWM Toolbox is a Decision Support System that supports the user to reduce the use of synthetic herbicides and/or improve w**d management by combining different Agroecological W**d Management(AWM) strategies with cover crops.
What do you have to do?
You can register using the QR code or online via the website https://www.dss.goodhorizon.eu/
You should provide input on the conditions of the farm/region (location, main crop, targets, w**ds, w**d management practices, economic values) by replying to a few simple questions.
What should you expect to receive?
The AWM Toolbox will suggest the optimal cover crop(s) for the respective context, including also recommendations on:
• Available AWM practices to help
• further reduce w**d pressure;
• What to sow, when, why;
• What combinations are needed for the reduction or elimination of herbicide use;
• Impact on herbicide load reduction, production and w**d management costs, and sustainability indicators.
What else should I know about the AWM Toolbox?
• It is free!
• It is simple! It includes pictures and it is translated.
• It will take approx. 5 minutes to complete.
• You can download as many recommendations as you want.
• It includes >25 w**d management practices, >70 w**ds, >15 cover crops, 14 main crops, and multiple combinations!

GOOD Project – Annual Meeting in Athens (29–30 April)
Two inspiring days of collaboration, knowledge exchange, and field learning at the GOOD Project Annual Meeting in Athens.
Day 1 took place at the University of Athens, where partners came together for engaging presentations from our Living Labs and with a short visit to the trail field, linking research directly to practice.

🍇 Day 2 brings us out into the field with a visit to one of our Living Labs, a vineyard near Athens, where we explore ongoing trials and learn more about agroecological practices in real-life conditions.

A great opportunity to connect science, practice, and people — and to strengthen collaboration across the GOOD network.

In the Italian Living Lab in Sardinia dedicated to triticale, the ISPAAM institute of Sassari and the REMOTE team of the CNR of Pisa, as part of the GOOD project, are conducting aerial surveys using drones in both conventional and organic fields.
The use of drones featuring high ground resolution allows for the identification of w**ds even in their early growth stages, ensuring early mapping that identifies outbreaks before they become a problem, thanks to sensors that see what the human eye cannot perceive.
Advanced data collection on the distribution and density of w**d flora, through sensors and cameras, enables informed decision-making and site-specific w**d management. With precise prescription maps, treatment is applied only to critical areas, preserving the balance of the ecosystem.
Each flight generates data that helps us understand w**d dynamics over time, allowing for increasingly effective agronomic prevention.

The Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre (LLKC), as a Latvian partner in the project GOOD, continues to actively contribute to Living Lab (LL) activities. Together with the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Economics (AREI), we are co-leading the Latvian Living Lab.
Recently, we participated online in the scientific and practical webinar “Balanced Agriculture 2026” where we presented preliminary results from the past two years of the GOOD Living Lab activities. The presentation highlighted key insights and outcomes from our ongoing work. The event was held entirely in Latvian and brought together national stakeholders and experts.

Project GOOD (Agroecology is GOOD) was proud to be present at Seed Potato Day 2026, a successful event that brought together 200 participants from across the seed potato sector. Around 60 people represented organisations and exhibitors, and of the remaining visitors 55% were growers, a strong and valuable mix from the sector.
During Seed Potato Day 2026, visitors could attend a diverse set of workshops that connected well with the agroecological challenges the sector is facing:
• Johannes Ritz (Bioland, Germany) – Stolbur: practical experiences from Germany
• Jan Salomons (Delphy) – What else can be done to control viruses in seed potatoes?
• Stan Koning & Erik van der Vegt (Vegniek) – Optical potato selection: how simple can it be?
• Paul Andela (Andela TNI) – Mechanical w**d control and haulm destruction in potatoes

These themes closely align with Project GOOD’s ambition to combine mechanical, biological and system based approaches into practical agroecological solutions that work on farm level.
We look back on Seed Potato Day 2026 as a very valuable moment for knowledge exchange, discussion and networking. We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did, were able to attend the workshops you were interested in, and connected with the people you came to meet.
Seed Potato Day 2026 was organised by Delphy Akkerbouw Noordwest Nederland and Delphy Projecten en Innovaties.Thank you all for contributing to a strong and inspiring event!
