📌 A port that only handles ships is half a port
YILPORT will invest €100 million in the North Container Terminal at Leixões, Portugal. Capacity should grow from about 200,000 to around 1 million TEU a year.
The key detail: a rail terminal for container trains is part of the project.
Why it matters:
✅ Ports now compete on how fast cargo leaves them
✅ Rail at the quay means fewer steps between sea and land
What to remember:
🔻 Big projects take time
🔻 The inland leg still needs planning
Where modes meet, chains get stronger.
