As nossas figueiras já se vestem de doçura.
Juntamente com a amendoeira e a alfarrobeira, a figueira é uma das árvores mais emblemáticas do Algarve, desempenhando um papel importante tanto na paisagem como na tradição gastronómica da região. O seu fruto, o figo, é amplamente utilizado na doçaria tradicional, sendo igualmente apreciado ao natural. Trata-se de uma das árvores mais antigas da história, com origem no Médio Oriente e no sudoeste da Ásia. Para além do valor alimentar, a figueira possui também propriedades medicinais: as suas folhas são utilizadas em práticas tradicionais de saúde, embora esse uso ainda seja pouco conhecido e divulgado.

Together with the almond tree and the carob tree, the fig tree is one of the most emblematic trees of the Algarve, playing an important role both in the landscape and in the region’s gastronomic tradition. Its fruit, the fig, is widely used in traditional sweets and is also enjoyed on its own. It is one of the oldest trees in history, originating from the Middle East and Southwest Asia. In addition to its nutritional value, the fig tree also has medicinal properties: its leaves are used in traditional remedies, although this use is still not widely known or promoted.
