with a contemporary design inspired by ancestral knowledge preserving the memory and authenticity of local culture designed in new modern standards diffusing the essence of the brand: Passion for nature. Isilda Pelicano’s approach to design, craftsmanship and life, combined with the establishment of protocols with “IADE- Creative University “ and Nisa’s Museum of Embroidery and Clay ( “Museu do Bordado e do Barro”), aim to foster a creative dialogue between artisans, a leading Design school and a Museum that represents traditional know-how, namely the Felt appliqué technique; this is an asset to the formation of training and production ateliers dedicated to textiles. Based at Barca d'Amieira, Amieira do Tejo, Nisa, Northern Alentejo, Portugal, this is a region known by the beauty of its landscapes and the quality of its archaeological, monumental, architectural and ethnographic heritage.

JANS studio ceramic and cork objects are created by invited artists and designers – the new artisans – that seek inspiration in local artisanal techniques and in ancestral know-how. The objects mirror the personality of each creator, a common aesthetic view, equal principles and the innovation in the manipulation of natural materials, leading to the creation of contemporary pieces which capture the essence of the Northern Alentejo region, recognized by their origin, authenticity and ancestral knowledge, respecting the environment, land and men. The connection to the land, the work performed by successive generations, the focus on design, quality and innovation are at the base of the brand’s positioning and essence; Passion for nature.
