More Than a Century | 200 Years of VISTA ALEGRE®
Founded in 1824 by José Ferreira Pinto Basto and a pioneer in porcelain production in Portugal, the Portuguese brand VISTA ALEGRE® was born from the ambition to establish a benchmark for porcelain manufacturing in the country. Authorised by Royal Charter of King João VI, the Vista Alegre Factory was granted the title of Royal Factory just five years later, in recognition of the artistic and industrial quality it was already beginning to establish. Two centuries on, the Portuguese brand VISTA ALEGRE® remains synonymous with excellence in porcelain, crystal, design and Portuguese artistic creation, projecting internationally a savoir-faire that has successfully combined heritage with contemporary expression. These 200 years of history demonstrate that the longevity of a brand is built not only on continuity, but also on the ability to evolve without losing what makes it distinctive.
