On the 31st of October, the Komuhn team and a group of students from Savonia - University of Applied Sciences, in Finland, went on exploring ‘What does a Caring organization look like?’
We facilitated an exercise where the students, divided into smaller groups, explored the theme deepening their understanding. The groups brought together designs with learnings:
From finding correlations between family and work, 👪
to creating a playbook for promoting empathy in schools, 📑
to a robot buddy that generates capacity for care, 🤖
and exploring freedom as a guide to the future of the workplace, 🔓
After the exercise, based on the demos presented, we had an open discussion. These were some of the topics worth exploring:
Can you get fired from a family?
Can we actually learn empathy?
The dilemma of a shared language: Bad english as the collaboration idiom
Technology, preparation and assuming things will go wrong
The value of being with conflict
The value of patience for participation (fair and thriving)
The importance of roles and how to distribute them
Rounds as a tool for equity
What you learned, with your team, within your organization, towards your community, society and ecosystem
Creativity and imagination as a source for wellbeing and belonging
Organizing beyond control
Leadership alternatives to hierarchy
At the end of the workshop, we challenged the students to open up their proposals to the wider world. Whether it's by starting a project, writing an article or starting a discussion…we are looking forward to seeing everyone’s take on the challenge and understanding how we can contribute.
We feel so grateful for the time and involvement in our workshop, for spending the day learning more about care and organizations, and for the opportunity to remotely return to Finland from Peniche.
