CHAPTER 10
The Truth at Sunset
It was always going to come to this moment.
Ten years later, and here I am standing on ancient stone, light pouring through cathedral windows, history carved into the walls around me. My sunglasses catch the sunlight, but behind them is a woman who has seen it all: the hustle, the doubt, the long nights… and the freedom that followed.
You finally found me.
After all the years, the silence, the rumors. You thought I disappeared. You thought I gave up. But the truth? I built an empire.
Shandee Virtual Assistants.
It began in a garage. Not glamorous, I know. It smelled like burnt coffee and ambition. The walls were thin, the internet spotty. But I had a vision that buzzed louder than the fluorescent lights above my head. While you were off chasing shadows and sowing chaos, I was knee-deep in client emails, invoices, and YouTube tutorials. There was no roadmap. No safety net. Just grit, intuition, and Wi-Fi.
One client turned into five. Five into twenty.
Now, while others are chained to their desks and praying for Fridays, I sip espresso by the castles and call it Tuesday.
My team runs lean and global. Our clients feel supported and seen. My business works for me not the other way around.
But this was never just about business. This was about freedom.
I didn’t want an empire I had to babysit. I wanted a business that could thrive while I chased sunsets and passport stamps. So I made the decision most people only dream about.
I left.
I moved abroad.
I didn’t just expand my horizons,I made them my home.
That photo? That was never just a tourist moment. That was a declaration. A reminder that I built this life. That success, for me, doesn’t wear a blazer behind a desk it wears sandals in the ruins of old kingdoms and speaks three languages at breakfast.
And you well, you never understood that part, did you?
I didn’t just escape.
I designed my escape.
So here we are. The sun’s setting. The air is warm. The truth hangs in the air like perfume:
I built this life from scratch. And I’m not coming back.
To building empires remotely… and leaving our demons behind.
HAPPY BUSINESS BIRTHDAY TO ME 🏰
