Hello, it’s been a while!

September is here now and the Quinta has started the “Vindimas” - the season of the grape harvest 🍇

We have been away from the online world, yet very present in the day to day running of farm life, with plenty of guests visiting and staying with us for the summer. We are grateful for all the wonderful people that we have had the honour to meet this season so far, and for the lovely feedback we have received too 🤍

It’s with great devotion that we choose to honour the tradition of our Quinta and this land, taking care of our vineyards, olive grove, gardens, family home and guest lodge. The Farm has been in the family for over a century now, and at the care of Matilde’s grandfather since the 1960s. Four generations have passed by this place already, with lots of stories and memories created, lived and shared here.

The family’s continued efforts to maintain and look after the Farm are done with deep respect for the legacy that we carry forward, and with the sustainabiltiy of our future in mind too, choosing practices that are aligned with the preservation of resources and the wellbeing of Nature 🌿

Um dos mais bonitos espectáculos da Mãe Terra é presenciar o Pôr do Sol, na suave contemplação da mudança entre o dia e a noite.

Fazê-lo num lugar tão amplo e vistoso como os socalcos do Douro, torna a experiência do entardecer algo ainda mais especial.

Local Experiences 🍇

To complement your stay at Suspiro do Vale, you are invited to join some local experiences and activities with the natural surroundings.

🥘 Gastronomic Experience - a journey through the senses and local flavours, at dinner time, that includes starters, main dish, dessert and a bottle of the Farm's premium wine. To be enjoyed to the fullest, in the outdoor lounge of our main terrace and with amazing views of the Valley.

🍷 Local Wine Tasting - a wine tasting experience designed for you to explore some of the region's finest wines and to learn about our history and tradition, highlighting the Farm's own production of premium red wine - "Quinta da Xandica". Includes a complimentary snack and bottle of wine.

👩🏼‍🌾 Vineyard Farm Tour - a guided tour around the Farm’s land, terraces and grounds, with a walk/hike up to the vineyards and olive groves that have been under the care of our family for almost a century. To know all the nooks and corners of this place, and the great variety of fruit trees.

Other activities at the Farm and in the local region will be suggested during your stay.

Vindimas 🧺

Setembro é um mês especial na região do Douro, conhecido pelas suas famosas vindimas!

A colheita dos cachos de uvas destinados à produção de vinho, faz-se com muita dedicação e boa disposição, debaixo do céu solarengo e no ambiente mais ameno do final do Verão, quando as uvas atingem o grau indicado de amadurecimento.

É uma experiência que se faz em comunidade, entre família, amigos, colegas e vizinhos, para desfrutar da apanha destes frutos requintados, a partir dos terraços e socalcos de videiras e vinhas que estão ao cuidado de longas gerações.

September is a special month in the region of Douro, with its renowned “Vindimas”!

Harvesting the grapes that are destined to wine production, is an activity that is done with lots of dedication and good spirits, under the sunny sky and in the cooler, fresher feeling of the end of Summer, when the grapes have the right maturation and ripening.

It’s an experience to be enjoyed in the company of family, friends, colleagues and neighbours, while picking these exquisite fruits from rows and rows of vineyards that have been cared for, for generations.

Apresentamos dois dos quatro quartos que estão prontos a receber-vos para uma estadia única no Suspiro do Vale:

⚘ O quarto verde, também conhecido como o Quarto Oliveira 🍃

⚘ E o quarto amarelo, com tons que lhe dão o nome de Quarto Amendoeira 🍂

Construídos a partir de um antigo espaço de arrumos, que foi recuperado e transformado para se criar este bonito acrescento de turismo rural. O alojamento dispõe de um design que combina acabamentos de qualidade modernos com detalhes que remetem ao passado, reaproveitando peças de mobília vintage e materiais naturais da Quinta.

Cada quarto é en-suite, com um ambiente espaçoso, convidativo e agradável para o descanso e conforto dos nossos hóspedes. Estão convenientemente localizados no terraço principal da Quinta, com acesso à zona exterior de lounge e piscina, e com vistas maravilhosas do Vale 💧🌳

The Farm is surrounded by an idyllic landscape in the valley of Távora river, just by the estuary where it joins Douro river.

The Farm has been welcoming guests and visitors for over four years now, hosted by Matilde and her Father, and they have been kind enough to leave us their testimony.
