Nederlandse uitkering en wonen in Portugal? Zo zit het met je zorgverzekering.

De zorgverzekering voor Nederlanders in het buitenland was deze week in het nieuws. Daarom een korte update voor wie in Portugal woont.

Ontvang je AOW, Nederlands pensioen of WIA en heb je geen werk of Portugees pensioen? Dan moet je volgens EU-regels een S1-verklaring via het CAK aanvragen.

Met een S1 heb je:
• toegang tot de Portugese SNS-zorg
• recht op noodzakelijke zorg in Nederland tijdens verblijf
• een CAK-bijdrage die vaak lager is door de woonlandfactor

Werk je in Portugal of heb je een Segurança Social-pensioen? Dan is meestal de S1 niet van toepassing.

Alojamento Local and VAT

ATTENTION: Do you own a holiday home (Alojamento Local) in Portugal as a non-resident? You have likely already declared your rental income for personal income tax (IRS) by now, or you will do so before July 1, 2026.

However, there is a big chance that you have also unknowingly built up a VAT (IVA) backlog! Since July 1, 2025, the Portuguese tax rules for foreign owners have changed.

The well-known VAT exemption (Artigo 53) up to €15,000 is no longer automatically valid for non-residents. Have you received rental income since July last year but haven't filed any VAT returns? Then it is wise to take—or have someone take—the right measures as soon as possible. Feel free to contact me if you want to know more and/or need any assistance.

Alojamento Local en IVA

OPGELET: Heb jij een vakantiehuis (Alojamento Local) in Portugal als niet-resident? Als het goed is heb je de huurinkomsten inmiddels voor de inkomstenbelasting (IRS) aangegeven of doe je dat voor 1 juli 2026.

Maar grote kans dat je daarnaast onbewust een btw-achterstand hebt opgebouwd! Sinds 1 juli 2025 zijn de Portugese belastingregels voor buitenlandse eigenaren namelijk veranderd.

De bekende btw-vrijstelling (Artigo 53) tot €15.000 is voor niet-residenten namelijk niet meer automatisch geldig. Heb je sinds juli vorig jaar wel huurinkomsten maar geen btw-aangifte gedaan? Dan is het verstandig om zo snel mogelijk de juiste maatregelen te (laten) treffen. Neem contact met mij op als je meer wilt weten en/of hulp nodig hebt.
