*Doha is a favorite destination...*
In the context, tourism expert Ayman Al Qudwa said that Doha currently includes the most luxurious shopping malls and world-class shopping centers where visitors and residents find the pleasure of strolling and shopping at the same time. Doha has also become the top choice for Gulf citizens who are looking for tourist places in the vicinity that enjoy all the means of entertainment and upscale hotels in addition to shopping places that have become a substitute for going to European capitals to shop and get what they need from various things.
Mr. Ayman Al Qudwa also pointed out that the integrated tourism infrastructure in Qatar is the secret word and the integrated equation that has contributed significantly to activating domestic tourism, especially during the summer vacation.
With the continuous development of tourist facilities, the availability of luxury hotels, entertainment centers, and international restaurants, it has become easy for citizens and residents to enjoy their holidays within the country. In addition, the focus on organizing attractive cultural and sporting events makes Qatar a distinctive destination to visit. The weather conditions during the summer months may also encourage visitors to enjoy recreational activities in indoor centers or on the beach.
*Diversity of options*
Al Qudwa added: “Malls and shopping centers have contributed greatly to attracting more tourists to Doha, especially from neighboring countries, as these centers reflect the development and diversity of commercial and entertainment options, and have enhanced the attraction of tourists from the diversity of options, entertainment and facilities, events and entertainment shows, as well as security and safety standards. Therefore, these factors have contributed in general to enhancing tourism in Doha and making it an attractive destination.
He pointed out that the figures for international visitors from January to August confirm that Gulf visitors reached more than one million and four hundred thousand visitors, constituting 43% of the number of international visitors, which reached 3.284 million visitors from January to August 2024.
This is in addition to urban development and modernization, cultural and sporting events, shopping and entertainment, hospitality and comfort, geographical proximity and the network and destinations of Qatar Airways between the GCC countries, and based on this, it can be said that Doha has become one of the preferred destinations for Gulf citizens.
*Qatar Tourism Campaigns*
Regarding Qatar Tourism campaigns and festivals that it implemented during the summer of 2024 and whether they enhanced citizens and residents spending their holidays within the country, Al Qudwa said that the "Qatar Tourism" campaigns and events that it implemented during the summer can be evaluated positively from several aspects. These campaigns usually aim to enhance the tourism experience and attract visitors by organizing a variety of cultural and entertainment events. The most important results that reflected this outstanding success of these campaigns are: the diversity of events to suit everyone, including citizens, residents and international visitors, effective promotion through the effective use of all media and social networking sites, developing and improving the tourism experience, interaction, cooperation and responsiveness between all partners in both the government and private sectors. Al Qudwa concluded his speech by saying that the State of Qatar today has a comprehensive and detailed strategy in its tourism campaigns, which was reflected in an increase in the number of visitors on an annual basis from January to August 2024 by 26% compared to the same period in 2023.
