An amazing individual, positive in all you do and say! Here’s to a Major
📖 Not sure where to start. But here it goes.
During Covid, I was forced to move back home to my mums. No status, no money, and no opportunity. I claimed Universal Credits for a couple of months, tried roofing (for 3 days😅), and gave lessons when I could find clients. It was at this moment I realized. I’m 28 with nothing to show for the years of chasing my dreams. Get my head down, be better, and make my dreams come true, or fall by the wayside.
So it began.
A year on a mini tour scrapping away. In 2021 I finished 31st on the EuroPro OOM. I still wasn’t good enough…
At the end of 2022, I finished 7th on the EuroPro OOM missing my Challenge tour card by 2. I then played 2nd stage of Q school and lost in a playoff to make it to the Final Stage. Maybe good enough just not the right time.
With a then EuroPro Tour folding I was left with no status, no money, and no opportunity AGAIN. I never once thought it was the end. My motto was ‘stay ready’ so when an opportunity did come I wouldn’t have any excuses. Helped, by a good friend of mine at the time, I was able to train somewhere warm and have access to incredible facilities like Doha Golf Club and ‘stay ready’.
In 2023 that opportunity came by way of the The MENA Tour in Egypt. With that invite I won, and enough money to keep me going. Another couple of top 10s gave me some cash and confidence.
I signed up to play 8 clutch events knowing I needed to play well in those to get CT invites. I won 3 of those events and then won my first invite to the CT. Played in my first Major - The British Open. And then finished 21st on the Road to Mallorca. Missing my DP World Tour card by 1 place and 4 points!
2024 - This year Qualified for the US OPEN, won my 2nd CT title, AND earned my DP World Tour card 🙏🏽
There’s a lot more to this journey, that’s just a snippet. The work done and the sacrifices made will remain personal and those that know will know. But I definitely wasn’t alone and I’ve had help and support the whole way. Honestly, without every one of those people, I may not have made it to this point.
