Climate change and biodiversity loss are often treated as two separate crises. They aren't. 🌍🦇
Wind energy is one of our strongest tools against climate change. But turbines also take a toll on wildlife, especially bats and birds. Many migrate across Europe, and our own research in Dobrogea showed that most noctule bats killed at turbines on the Black Sea coast had travelled from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia. Every turbine sits on a migration route that is shared across a whole continent.
Bats and Birds are also some of nature's best climate allies. They control insect pests, pollinate plants and spread seeds. Losing them makes ecosystems less resilient at the very moment we need them to be stronger.
That is why we built the TORI Ecosystem. We don't think it should be a choice between clean energy and healthy wildlife.

Our experience speaks for itslef. Babadag wind park was once among the deadliest sites in Europe for bats. After years of careful mitigation, it has recorded zero bat carcasses per year for two years in a row, and now is the pioneer of sustainable change in Romania with the first TORI inatalation.
A green transition that destroys biodiversity isn't truly green. With TORI, wind farms can produce clean energy and protect the species we share the sky with. 💚

Castorul, inginerul tăcut al râurilor de munte 🦫

A dispărut din România acum aproape 200 de ani. A revenit prin reintroduceri începute în 1998 și astăzi își reconstruiește, încet, locul pe râurile noastre, inclusiv în zonele de deal și de munte.

Barajele lui nu sunt doar grămezi de crengi. Sunt lucrări de inginerie ecologică pe care nicio echipă umană nu le poate face la fel de ieftin și de eficient:

💧 Țin apa în peisaj. Un pârâu cu baraje de castor reține apa ca un burete. O eliberează treptat în perioadele de secetă și atenuează viiturile după ploile torențiale.

🌿 Creează zone umede. Bălțile din spatele barajelor devin habitate pentru amfibieni, libelule, păsări de apă, pești și lilieci, care vânează insecte deasupra apei liniștite.

🪨 Curăță apa. Barajele rețin sedimentele și o parte din poluanți, iar apa care iese din aval e mai limpede.

🔥 Fac peisajul mai rezistent. Zonele umede create de castori se usucă greu și funcționează ca refugii pentru faună în verile tot mai calde.

De ce apar conflicte?
Castorul nu ține cont de hotarele noastre. Inundă uneori terenuri agricole, drumuri forestiere sau podețe și doboară copaci de pe mal. Pentru proprietari, astfel de pagube sunt reale și nu trebuie ignorate.

Soluția nu e eliminarea, ci coabitarea. Există metode testate în toată Europa:

✔️ dispozitive de control al nivelului apei, care mențin barajul, dar opresc inundarea terenurilor
✔️ plase de protecție pe trunchiurile copacilor valoroși
✔️ fâșii de vegetație lăsate de-a lungul malurilor
✔️ planuri de management și despăgubiri pentru cei afectați
✔️ dialog între comunități, autorități, specialiști și fermieri

Castorul este o specie protejată la nivel european. Într-o eră a secetelor și a inundațiilor tot mai frecvente, e unul dintre cei mai buni aliați pe care îi avem. Merită să învățăm să trăim alături de el.

**Faster green energy shouldn't mean higher environmental risk.**

Romania and the EU are accelerating the energy transition, cutting our dependence on traditional energy sources. But that acceleration has to respect EU principles, including the Birds and Habitats Directives.

The projects that move fastest are the ones that get the environmental work right from the start. Early, well-designed studies support environmental permits and financing applications and reduce the risk of costly delays. They also matter to lenders: a robust environmental assessment lowers the perceived risk of a bank loan, which can mean better interest rates. Those savings can far outweigh the cost of the study itself.

🦇The fist bat deterrent called Koumouri (bat in Japanese) is operational and ready to help reduce the number of bat fatalities at wind turbines. The solution, coupled with TORI Defender, a shut down on demand AI optical system, will make biodiversity collisions a thing of the past, both onshore and offshore.
🇪🇺🇷🇴TORI Ecosystem is fully developed in the EU, Romania and is tested at wind turbines that frequently registered carcasses.
