Some train rides are just a way to get somewhere. The Oravița–Anina line is the reason to go.

A reminder for anyone visiting Romania from outside the EU: you can get part of the VAT back on what you buy here. 💰

Shop at authorized Tax Free stores and ask for the Tax Free form when you pay. When you leave, bring your documents to one of the Ask For Tax Free points: Siret Customs, Sculeni Customs or Henri Coandă Airport. 🛫

Did you know Romania has over 155 castles? 🏰

Which means you could spend quite a while pretending you’re in a period drama before remembering you came here on holiday.

Start with Peleș. Get lost in a few mountain towns. Find a castle you’ve never heard of. Eat something you can’t pronounce. Then, naturally, do some shopping.

As a non-EU resident, you can get a tax refund on electronics, jewelry, clothing, cosmetics and many other goods purchased from authorized Tax Free stores. 💎💡👗💅

Just ask for the Tax Free form before you leave the store, then drop off your documents at one of the Ask For Tax Free points before leaving the country: Siret custom, right by the Sculeni custom or Henri Coandă Airport.

Before you fly home, there's one more thing worth doing: getting your VAT back.

Ask for the Tax Free form when you pay at the store, then bring it along with your invoice and proof of payment to the Ask For Tax Free point at Henri Coandă Airport. Get your money back by bank transfer or cash, the choice is yours. That's up to 21% of the value of your purchases.

Prin sistemul Tax Free, persoanele care au domiciliul permanent în afara Uniunii Europene pot solicita restituirea TVA pentru bunurile cumpărate din magazine autorizate și transportate ulterior în afara UE.
